Last year's team, ala Patterson, Wall, Cousins, Bledsoe...was a real missed opportunity to bring home banner #8 to Rupp Arena.
This year's team, while much less-hyped once Kanter was ruled ineligible, has a real shot at going farther. That's because of the way they have played since the end of regulation. They took their lumps in the regular season on the road and lost some games they shouldn't have as they figured out how to come together. Right now, I like what I see. Last night was executed quite well, IMO, from the coach's seat, and from Harrellson and Liggins! Knight stepped up when he had to, and Jones was....well....I just don't like him, so I'll hush. We didn't move from our plan, which was to make Sullinger beat Harrellson so that we could stay out on their guards and protect the perimeter. Harrellson answered the call....that save out of bounds off Sullinger's chest was awesome! I wonder if he has a "Wilson" tattoo on his man-titty this morning? LMAO
It does my heart good to see those two shining right now. Who would have thunk it?
If we play with the same tenacity on defense and can have a balanced scoring attack against cryin' Roy and North Carolina, we can defeat the Tarheels. It would be a nice payback from when they edged us in the regular season....and I always say, revenge is a dish best served in the post-season. Either way, it should be another great game, between the two winningest programs in college basketball history. Could this be another Regional Final classic game like UK/Duke in '92?
Unfortunately, I have Carolina in a little action that would pay me about $350 if they beat Kentucky on Sunday...but I'll gladly forfeit that for a UK appearance in the Final Four.
I'm also in the unique situation that the owners of my company are Ohio State Alums...(Useless fact: That's why S&S Tire's colors are "Scarlet/Grey.") They were giving me the O-H-I-O crap all day yesterday. If Kentucky can beat Carolina and go to the Final Four, I'll have to figure out what my rebuttal will be on Monday.
GO CATS!
