22-19 at the half AND FG% below 20% for Butler and below 30% for UCONN, enough said.
Only thing that could save this game is some miraclous buzzer beater shot to win it for one team or the other.

Butler plays like crap and so does UCONN, but UCONN wins....
This game reminded me of exactly how Butler played against U of L at the start of the season. 2nd worst game of the year and it's the title game...oh man i feel for those Butler player's.....![]()
I haven't watched a full game all year of any sport. I'm just glad this fishin.com soap opera has come to an end.
Serious question....do any of you all pay attention to defense? These two teams got after each other defensively and that accounted for the low shooting percentages. Even when you had a wide open look someone was flying in your periphral(sp) vision to try and block it, and there were no easy baskets inside, either go hard or go home. Heck even Brad Stevens commented about how both teams were playing rgeat defense when he was interviewed at halftime. For those who have yet to grasp this concept (Mills) there are two teams playing and they have a reaction and affect the other team.
I loved the game. I'm all about the "D". Hearing those suits commenting about how this game was so terrible was hillarious. The game was intense.
Yeah it sucked but games do sometimes.
Any time any of the other participants want to win 5 in a row to get there feel free to do so though...............
Good defense + missing the shots that aren't greatly defended = ugly, but that's what you get sometimes.
I wish the players would quit playing for the right to be known as champions and instead would focus on putting together an entertaining game for the folks that post on the ESPN forums.................
UConn's D did just about the same thing to UK's O....Rarely will offense win a championship....Busting your butt on D takes a lot out of a team and can often make for an "ugly" game....
Rewatch it..........Serious question....do any of you all pay attention to defense? These two teams got after each other defensively and that accounted for the low shooting percentages. Butler had so many wide open uncontested 3's it is PITIFUL. Had they hit a few of those, the game would have been a 30 point blowout.
Not only that, but they SCREWED the pooch on at least 1/2 dozen bunnie shots, that should have went in.....NO D there, just didn't fall.
Not saying the D was not pretty **** good......it was, but the shooting was horrific for a lot more reasons than just good Defense.

Geo

Tim I tend to agree with you on a lot of basketball related stuff but that was mostly just brick city last night.
Don't get me wrong I know both teams really got after it on the defensive end but I think it had more to do with shooting in a dome (shooters will tell you it's tough to adjust to) than anything else plus both teams looked tight.
There were 10 blocked shots against Butler and that will change your mentality in a hurry. Who knows how many shots were contested or shots altered from the smothering D.
Butler folded in the paint and had no answer to the killer D of Oriakhi and Smith. So they start tossing 3's and that usually spells trouble. There were 12 steals and uconn had 4 of those. Not a pretty game but I enjoyed the hell out of it.
