I've ben reading his weekly report for years. When it come to Ky Lake, Dave is the man. Just looking to get some chatter going.
The past few years I have fished north barkley at this time and had luck with texas rigged lizards, spinnerbaits, and flukes fished shallow in wood cover and or weeds (not always present every year). If I cant get bit this way I back up to lead-in (deeper banks) and fish crankbaits and plastics down to about 11 ft of water. Usually catch good numbers with nice kicker fish here and there. Good luck!! We normally take our spring trip to LBL a this time but instead went to Wheeler 3 wks ago due to wife and I expecting soon.
I try to get down there about five times a year to bass fishing. Mid March, late April, early June, late October, and over Thanksgiving. This year there was high and muddy water during mid March, so I canceled. Good thing because the reports I saw didn't look all that good. The guy I was taking with me, really want to do some crappie fishing. Having done a lot of crappie fishing years ago. I know the second week of April is a great time to be there. So that's the plan. I figure I'll try to bass fish and let him dangle few minnows over the side and cast some green curly tail jigs. I guess I'll hit the lead in channel banks. Fish the deeper flats and then try the shallow flats and banks. Let's hope that plan works. The water should warm up a lot in the next week with the forcast that I see. I just hope the fishing really turns on.
Keep this in mind - Full moon is the 18th and warming trend on the way......
I'm all but bouncing in my chair in antisipation!!!!
