    Trolling motor help.

I have a 43lb motorguide trolling motor. I am getting my boat up and running after bout 8 months of just setting. I can not get the trolling motor to work. It worked fine when my big motor went out now nothing. The black wire looks like it has been melted with the inside wires showing. Could this be the problem. I know the positive red wire has a fuse i checked it and it sparked. Just cant get the motor going. Finally got my big motor fixed now my trolling motor seems to be broke. I cleaned all connections charged battery. How do i know if it is shot? Thanks for the help in advance.

If your battery is full charged and troller still will not work and it looks like wires melted it's time to replace.

As a last ditch attempt to fix it I would cut the burnt/melted portion of the wires off and do a direct connection with a battery. If it works that way replace the fuse, fuse holder and wires.

check it with a volt ohm meter, if you have continuity with the switch on the motor should be good, if you have an accesive amt of resistance, motor bad, internal short, but get rid of burnt wire first.
