Good place to fish with a 10 foot Pond boat

Hey Everyone, I'm a newby on this site but have read bits and pieces of it for the last few weeks and have enjoyed reading everyones tips and insights in regards to places to fish, tackle to use, and how they catch them.

I live in Louisville/Jefferson Co and just recently bought a 10 foot pond prowler. I go fairly often to a nice farm pond in Oldham Co that I enjoy fishing alot because I never know from one minute to the next what I may catch. I plan on using my boat there quite a bit this spring/summer/and fall and hopefully will enjoy myself.

My main question is, are there other nice ponds and streams around Louisville/Jefferson Co that I can launch my boat on and not have to worry getting sunk by the larger boats? I've fished Miles Park, and Long Run alot, but I would love to fish a few privately owned farm ponds, but unfortunately don't know anyone, other than the one mentioned above, that has one.

Any help that I can get would be appreciated. Thanks and Happy Fishing Everyone.

Use this as a resource... http://fw.ky.gov/fishboataccessgoogle.asp

For the record, I have taken 10' boats out on Cumberland before. Don't let big water intimidate you. Just be smart and fish close to the ramp. Launch in a creek arm and pick it apart.

    Good luck!

    I disagree

Stay off any water with white caps or strong riffles. There are several small lakes that are electric motor only which should be good for your boat. One of the problems with 10 ft boats is stability. Too short to be wide enough. Check your maximum weight limit and stay below it. Batteries weigh a lot!

Short, narrow, overweight, unbalanced boats in swift or windy weather is an excellant chance to loose expensive fishing equipment.

just know your limits and try not to exceed them. with that being said there are pleanty of 9.9, no wake, and electric motor only lakes around that are full of fish. my uncle and i put his in Kincaid and down in the licking river, its easy to move and you can launch it in places i dream to launch my 16 aluminum boat (which i can get in places people with big bass boats cant).

My rule of thumb when I'm on the lake in my 10' jon or kayak or canoe is when i see that first jet ski it's time to go!
