once the lake is finally down a couple buddies and I are planning on taking a trip down there to do some catfishing (mainly at night). I'm not real familiar with the lake so i'm wondering if there is any good spots by any of the ramps around that time of the year. also do you fish with a bobber or on the bottom, and do you do better with live bait such as bluegill or shad, or dead bait such as cutbait or chickin livers and stuff like that. any info would be greatly appreciated.
-Thanks

baits to use for catfish at taylorsville, shad, shad and shad.
ditto, ditto, ditto
Actually I'm planning on getting my boat out today to check everything out and go to T-ville tomorrow. I mainly jug fish but have fished with poles too but it's much slower. Is the lake down enough yet? Anyone got a link where you can check on it?
Still 40 foot over pool. Jason
From Home Page...Fishing reports, Kentucky, Taylorsville...
my buddy also said shad. do you cut them or use them as live bait. when i go there i plan on doing it all, jugs, trot line, limb lines, and fishing wit a rod and reel
I've always used a cast net there to get my bait. The way those shad ball up, one toss of the net will get you all the bait you need for the day, or weekend. I put the shad in a 5 gallon bucket with water, and it's not long before they die...really sensitive fish they are. I cut them up or just use the guts alone. I start off in 8 ft of water, using rod and reel, and let it sit on the bottom with a carolina rig. If that doesn't get bit after 5 minutes, I move a little deeper, and repeat. Eventually I'll find them, and when I do they'll be stacked up. LOTS of catfish in that lake! Shad is definitely the way to go!
ok well i'm not very familiar with the lake especially at night. is there any good fishin by any of the rapms. i'm not wanting to get to far away from them. once it gets dark. Thanks for the help
