    Outdoor Store in Georgetown

First, I hope this doesn't violate the terms of use on the board.

MK Outdoors was an outdoor shop in Paris some time back but they closed without any fanfare or noise. I only went in the store a few times when it was here but missed it after it was gone. I just figured the Paris area didn't or couldn't support the business. This morning I was bargain hunting online when I noticed some of the listings were by MK Outdoors in Georgetown with an address listed so I decided to run over there and check it out and was pleasantly surprised.
The folks there have a decent selection of name brand items including lots of plastics, lures and other tackle, rods, reels, live bait, and hunting supplies. They will also order items for you. I believe they are also a BPS affiliate so that is available also. To be balanced in my observation, there were quite a few empty rack spaces where baits had sold out and not been refilled. All in all, I would say it's a nice store, good folks, easy to find and not far from me. Thumbs up in my book. They have more specialized items than the run of the mill box stores. I am personally a fan of seeing the little guy make it. I would recommend a visit. I don't think they have a website but the phone number and address can be searched. I won't include those in trying to stay within bounds with this posting.

Again, I hope this doesn't violate terms of use. This is completely a unsolicited, unaffiliated, pat on the back for some folks who are trying to make it work and who talk the same talk we do. I have tried to keep this as generic and informational as possible so as not to offend or step out of bounds.
In my immediate area, Winchester, Georgetown and Lexington are the only resources available and I will shop with the little guy 95% of the time.

MK is a BPS affiliate. I went there several times when I lived in Georgetown. I liked the fact that they carried Charmer Baits and I could pick up what I needed at the drop of a hat. The also carried BPS Flourocarbon in stock so it saved me from ordering it or going to Clarkesville. You can tell that they order in spurts for there were a few empty pegs but said they could order anything and get it in a couple of days. Nice people

I will second that on MK Outdoors. They are great people, always willing to give tips and advice, and have a good selection of baits and live bait. Again, no affiliation--just a satisfied customer.

Glad to hear Micky is doing well over there. Been a while since I was in there. Paris just doesnt have a market to support that type of business. Now if they sold antiques it would be a different story.

From Toyota just go cherry blossom to 25. Turn left toward town and when you see cardome ramp at elkhorn he's the next road on left past the bridge

Since the post wasn't taken down and I guess no rules were violated, it will be ok to add an address. If you come in on 460 or from I-75, go to Main St. turn right on Broadway. Go approx 1/4- 1/2 miles to 100 Payne Avenue which is right on the corner in the grouping of "cabin- looking" buildings.

Did this same place used to be known as "Jims" or something? I used to live in G-town, and my dad used to fish a bass tournament club out of the same location, I think anyway. That was several years ago though, and I thought "Jim" went out of business.

In a semi-related note, Did anyone know David Smith? He was my pops and killed in 2007. Always wanted to meet more of his friends.
