    Uh Oh Auburn!

Wow, Auburn is probably going to get hammered and possibly get the death penalty. Guess Reggie Bush can show Cam Newton the proper way to give back a Heisman Trophy. You reckon Cam took a pay cut to go to the NFL?

What, the Newton's turned down $180,000 from Mississippi State because it was the right thing to do? $20,000 to the Church gives a whole new meaning of "pass the offering plate". Cam Newton is a couple of years from being Ryan Leaf and Jamarcus Russell. I know it was a weak NFL draft but Newton is one of the most over-rated QB's to come out in a while.

After seeing how the NCAA is handling Ohio State and it looks like Tennessee will get away with self imposed sanctions,I have lost all faith in the fairness of the infractions commitee.Meanwhile SEC President Mike Slive is trying to implement a requirement for SEC schools to up the GPA of recruits to 2.5 which will only hurt the cellar dwellars like Kentucky in recruiting of any decent talent. The Bama's,Florida's,and LSU's will get the top recruits still. While I think a student athlete should be a student first, little things like that affect the also ran teams from being able to compete.
I've come to believe the NCAA gives the big money makers a pat on the hand and throws the book at everyone else.

I agree that the inconsistency of the NCAA is getting old, but if they were ever going to start cracking down, now would be the time. With the rampant cheating being exposed in college football right now it is time to send a message. Perhaps a suspension of football at OSU, Auburn and Oregon (if all this stuff is proven) is in order. Take away some of that big cash from a couple of athletic departments and I'll bet you will get some attention.

As for the GPA requirement. I disagree with them doing that. If you are passing your classes, even by the skin of your teeth, then you should be eligible to play. You don't need a 2.5 to get a degree, and imo athletes should be treated like the rest of the student body.

It's already been announced by the NCAA Infractions Commitee that Ohio State will not be charged with Lack of Institutional Control,Imagine that......
While Tennessee hasn't officially received NCAA sanctions, they self imposed probation and I'll bet that they get a pass as well. The NCAA knows who brings home the bacon.

Ohio State's AD Gene Smith has been sleeping with NCAA president Mark Emmert.Emmert is such a hippocrite in that he talked terribly about UK trying to get Enes Kanter eligible, what he didn't tell everyone was that he came to the NCAA from Washington U where he was AD and they were trying for Kanter as hard as UK was, when they lost out he had a little sour grapes in the final decision.

The Ohio State decision shows what a farce the NCAA is.

Hey wait a minute! I thought colleges, and universitys were institutions of higher learning, not farm systems for the NBA or NFL. Raise the grade reqs to 2.5? That would be a problem?Theres going to be football and basket ball no matter. Why waste time and money on neanderthals. Educate our bright, let the pros find the feed for their money mills.I couldn't believe my eyes and ears when I heard about the basketball player from wichitah[?], who graduated, and was functionaly illiterate.

Last time I checked Indianapolis was in the State of INDIANA, which should explain the idiotic ideas that they come up with. Plus, being Big Ten country they will want to help the FACE of Big Ten Football from completely getting covered with egg on it's face

Why Golly Gee Whiz yes,why not make it a 4.0 average,it'd sure make college sports really ****,I mean why take a C = Average student, take the ones that could get an academic scholarship anyway, let all the athletic ones who aren't Einsteins stay in poverty and get on Obamacare.

people are going to watch baseball, football, and basket ball, whether its mediocre or not. Seen parents go nuts at a T ball game.Do any of you remember when there were only 10 NFL teams? or when players played defense and offense? When you didn't have specialists just to kick a ball? People paid to see those games, but here comes TV and sponsers, and so forth. The last bear game I went to a few years back, play stopped, why I asked, commercial break! I hate commercials, I know the song it takes money to broadcast and yata yata yata.Same with basketball,my solution was teevo, and delete them, now I just catch the highlights on espn.
