    Irene the Hurricane

I hear they have the active duty military standing by to help after Irene passes. Do not get me wrong I think it is the right thing to do, but isn't it strange that this time they have them notified and standing by before hand. During other hurricanes, like on the gulf, it took the government forever and ever after the hurricane was over to even determine they were needed. Have they learned their lesson or is it just the fact that we, the Senators and Congressmen, want to take care of ourselves in Washington DC? If I lived on the gulf or whereever and my next hurricane did not bring the same response, I would do my dangest to kick my Senators and Congressmen all the way home from Washington. Just my humble opinion, what is yours?

You can never accuse Obama of wasting a good crisis. He learned from the perception of GW's response time. He will make this a political statement or at the very least his party will.
    Lesson learned.

    Re: Irene the Hurricane

GW, asked the Gov. of LA. if and when they wanted help from the Federal Gov. But the Gov. and mayor in charge of the area's that were being hit declined the help from Washinton, told GW that they could handle anything that the Hurricane dealt on their State.....Especiall New Orleans Mayor who let the Bus Compound full of School Bus's set and get flooded, instead of putting them to good use of transporting people out of New Orleans.

So of course Obama is putting the military on stand by, he wants to make sure his ass and family stay safe, along with the residents along the east coast...He's not that stupid u know.........

I don't understand why he would use active duty troops when each state has it's own National Guard. The National Guard is better trained and equipped to handle a crisis such as this. Oh, I forgot he wants the Federal Government to control everything!

I wonder how many of teh states NG folks were federalized and deployed. Wonder if the Active boys were backfilling them. Second, type of troops in the NY NG? Maybe the fed active guys were engineers.

I have nothing good to say about Nobama, anything he says or anything he does (which isn't much).

I think this becomes SOP from now on. And say what you want about the politics of it, bottom line is it's the right thing to do.
