I tried out one of the new Hydroglo green LED baitlights and it worked great. The water is hot so the bait dropped a ton of scales when they were pulled up so they didn't last long and they were small.
My buddy did take some home to freeze for later use in the boils though.
Peter, thanks for sharing. Question, are you finding bait in the creeks or on main lake?I tried out one of the new Hydroglo green LED baitlights and it worked great. The water is hot so the bait dropped a ton of scales when they were pulled up so they didn't last long and they were small.

80 feet of water in main in front of a cove near Roena. I would assume the same results would be had just about anywhere within 4 miles in any direction.
For me the Alewives I was catching were useless though. Too small and the water too hot for them to last anytime at all on a hook. I have scales on everything in the boat including me. When the surface water gets below 75 degrees.I might try it again. If you ask me, you have to be a near scientist to keep and fish with lake bait this time of the year.
