She was in Vegas, and it dawned on her husband that she was smoking, when he mentioned it, she was about to say he was crazy, and saw the butt.

Hang in there, try to stay busy to keep your mind off of it. If you can take a brisk walk to realize how much better you can breathe. As a last resort eat a halls cough drop.
Don't give in to cravings. They do deminish over time. I smoked for 35 years and quit cold turkey . it was hard to do, but it has been14 years. it takes a lot of will power. Don't think that you can smoke just one it won't work.Time is dragging, feeling much better.Todays rain and cool temps are a real boost.Whats harder to believe is that its also two weeks since my last cigarette! But the craving isn't any better. My cousin quit for 4 years,She never could figure out how she started agin. Hah 31 years! How about 61 yrs. This is my first cold turkey try, but its a lot easier than fooling around with the patches or gums.
....hey man, you can do it if you really want to. I never did mess with tobacco myself. but my mother has smoked all her life, and she tried the patches, when she stopped using the patches, she went back to smoking. I think you have to make up your mind to stop, and do it. my wifes older brother smoked for over 50 years, and one day he said this one I'm smoking is the last one, I'll ever burn. and that was over 20 years ago. and he never did smoke another, and his wife smokes in the house where they live together, and he still didn't start back. man, it's not a cold turkey try. if you haven't smoked one for two weeks. you have already quit, just don't start back. I don't know about you, but when I'm tring to do something, say working on a car, and a bolt is in a place were it really hard to get it started and I'm about to give up. I find myself saying, Lord help me get this thing started. and there it goes. sometimes we all need help, just ask him. it works for me.
Amen , hang in there tough but worth it. smoked 3-4 pack camel none filters for 20+ years quit none for 30+ years I used toothpicks to help me quit cold turkey...first year pooped 2'x 4"s but still worth it
Hahahaha!Reading that was a good way to start the short work week!
its almost 3 weeks now, craving still there.Three things helped me stop. First the up coming surgery, then the fact that my mates now uses O2 most of the time. But it was the darrn pollen that caused the post nasal drip that made my life misry, plus devloped an allergy to the mates dog, who just happens to worship me. So something needed to go. Wanna know something? if I ever get that message that I'm terminal, carton of marlborro reds, and several quarts of knob creek.
I can't say I blame you. I also can't imagine making that decision of letting go or hanging on with a terminal diagnosis. Geez....
I watched my dad make some tough decisions like that and it killed him. I got over the disappointment and anger but still a little upset that he made the choices he made. It's a long story. Good luck man!
My husband's sister got lung cancer from smoking. For two years she was misdiagnosed and treated for acute bronchitis. When they discovered it was cancer, it was too late. As a last wish I sent her a plane ticket to come and visit us and spend some time with her brother. It was wintertime and we had 8 inches of snow the first night she was there. She was aware that I had a strict rule that there was absolutely no smoking permitted in my house. The first morning she poured herself a cup of coffee and I thought she was coming to join me for some girl talk. Instead I heard the upstairs balcony door open and went to check on her. Yep, sure enough, there she stood out in the snow with a cup of coffee in one hand and a cigarette in the other. She died about six weeks later.its almost 3 weeks now, craving still there.Three things helped me stop. First the up coming surgery, then the fact that my mates now uses O2 most of the time. My mom summed it nup for us. During the depression, there were many things she needed and wanted. In her later years with a good pension, she developed alziemers. The drug she was on strictly prohibited any alcohol, and warned against smoking. On one of her cognizant days we talked and she told me" this is going to kill me, why should I die wanting something I can have'?My wife[second one] and I made a pact to quit smoking in the house, for almost a year we followed it.A wet Dec. morning, she put on her jacket, her scarf, and asked if I wanted to join her for a smoke.I finally told her this was silly, she was told she had 6 weeks to live, she had started hospice, and I told her I'd rather we spent our smoking time in doors.
Can't compare to the 61 years, but I smoked for 20 and this is my 2nd month without, and they are right...it does get better. Hang in.![]()
