This will always be a major difference between the two schools. Calipari loses a couple to Louisville he is shown the door but Pitino could lose to Kentucky for the rest of his life and all is well in Cardinal-Land. It is never going to change, Perfection is Expected at Kentucky but being Mediocre is ok with Louisville.

Oh please Woody you know enough about sports to know that is bull. That game means nothing but to the fans. It's not a conference game and it has no bearing at where you end up in March really. The UK faithful is just that rabid, where Louisville fans...''For the most part'' try to keep it real...

Exactly. It's not about settling for mediocrity, it's about having realistic expectations. Some years Louisville has great talent in the game, and then in other years the talent just wasn't found....it's not so much the coach's fault, he does the best with what he has to work with.

As for Kragthorpe, he was handed a locker room full of problems, and did the best with what he had to work with. Someone had to clean up the mess, and he got paid to do just that and then went on his way after it was all said and done. He basically was a filler until a better coach could be found.

So called "Diehard" Louisville fans continue to amaze me at how some love standing on the fence. So you are saying Louisville fans "keep it real". Louisville fans don't become "fanatical" about their team getting to the Final Four and rub it into the face of UK fans? Louisville fans don't become "fanatical" when UCONN did what Louisville could not do lady year, beat Kentucky? Louisville fans don't become "fanatical" when West Virginia beat Kentucky in the Elite 8 a couple of years ago? Come on fellas, Diehard Louisville and Kentucky fans are no different. I have 2 favorite teams, Kentucky and anybody playing Louisville (except Indiana then I have 1 favorite team). Louisville fans are the same way except they want people to think they are "being REAL" in that they support Kentucky in any game they are not playing Louisville. Real fanatics can't have it both ways. Duke and UNC don't support one another, Alabama and Auburn don't support one another, Florida and Florida State don't support one another, USC and UCLA don't support one another AND Kentucky and Louisville don't support one another. The difference in this state is UK fans are fanatical all the time and Louisville fans are closet fanatics. They bring out their car flags and T shirts when all is going well but are first to hang them in the closet when times are tough. I guess the level of support is based on the level of expectation or results. That is another difference between UK and UofL

What in the world?? I don't think anyone was even talking about that aspect of it.......

I can't stand UK fans because they think they are so righteous in all that they do, like their poopy don't stink, that every game is heralded as a battle of good versus evil, and don't quite seem to understand that UK is a school, not a state.....I love the state of Kentucky, but not the University of Kentucky or it's athletic fans........

...and for the record, I cheered for UCONN after Louisville lost to them in the Big East tournament....it was clear from that point on who the best team was last year.

    Re: UK Football -National Championship

I don't think all UK fans are the same, nor do I think all Uof L fans are the same. Some take it to extremes and others keep it real. I'm not on the suicide hotline after Louisville looses but I know some UK fans I wonder about that might be as I do some Cards fans as well. Here is an example of two UK fans on this very site that I think is the epitomy of what I'm referring to.

Splitshot aka Brian Q is a diehard UK fan......but he also calls it like it is without the sugar coat and Hate speeches. He can talk about the games and get down to brass tacks without slinging hate mud.

You Woody are the other side, you just did it to yourself, You love Kentucky and anybody that is playing Louisville. Typical UK fan Hate garbage.

When Kentucky is playing Duke I dang sure don't pull for Duke, Why would I do that?
Yes I hate Calapari I have made that clear, I've hated him at UMass, Memphis and now here but that doesn't mean I hate the kids, school or program. Keep telling yourself that Louisville fans are as bad as UK fans but the country will disagree. We don't hold up newspapers and BOO 18 year old kids at the Yum and we didnt do it at Freedom Hall either.

You hate Calipari as much as I hate Pitino. You won't root for Kentucky as long as Calipari is around and I sure in the heck won't root for Louisville as long as Pitino is around. Don't even try and put yourself in the non-mudslinging category as Brian. Remember your quote "put that in your pipe and smoke it" directed exactly at me after West Virginia beat UK. Talk about me doing it to myself, you do it to yourself. At least I am a Louisville hater up front 110% of the time and pull no punches and not a UK badger when it is convenient then sit there and say I am no basher, blah blah. My point about being a closet fanatic. You bash Kentucky then try to put yourself in the Non-Mudslinging Category. I bash Louisville up front live and in color. Louisville fans remind me of my brother, ask him who he is rooting for and he ask the score of the game before he gives you his answer

    Re: UK Football -National Championship

Now Elwood you are clouding the subject at hand. I never said I didn;t get in heated debates with you boys and have some fun going back and forth, Brian does that to. That is a different subject for a different time. I said I wasn't a hater and I'm not of the program. And just for the record I am, will always be win or loose a Card fan and you or nobody else can question that, I take the good with the bad. I may not like it but I don't throw the coach under the bus after a few losses which is what kinda started this.

I cut Kragthorpe slack until his second year then it became obvious he was in way over his head and then I wanted him gone. I am already hearing from the UK faithful to can Joker, and I heard the same thing about Brooks his first and second year.

Yes I have slung alot of mud Ky's way I'm no saint my brutha but it's usually retalitory and not the first out of the gate. A homie has to protect the gate and not get knocked down right, lol????

    Re: UK Football -National Championship

What is the difference in you wanting Kragthorpe gone a few games into year two and UK fans wanting Joker gone a few games in year two? Face it, UK and UofL are both bad football teams. Either way it was a no win situation foe both. Whichever team won it can be said they did not beat much but UK was playing at home to lay an egg like they did. Kentucky has been and always will be mediocre at best in football. Way too much power and tradition in high profile teams to the north in OSU, Michigan, Notre Dame and every team in the SEC except for Vandy for them to get the players year in and year out. Joker is an offensive coordinator at BEST in college. UK underachiever last year a game or two with more talent than this sorry bunch and they are doing it more so this year. Joker is over his head. Brooks was over his head. I believe Brooks was 10 games under .500 overall and 25 games under .500 in the SEC. 4 straight Velveeta Cream Puff Bowls is not the same as the Sugar, Orange or Rose Bowl. Brooks did not have that many outright winning records as a head coach in his 80 years of coaching.

Speak for yourself.....Louisville isn't bad, just young....if Charlie can refine those boys more and more with each game, Louisville will get into some kind of bowl game this winter.

Art the Cards future is so bright they need a welders helmet screw the sunglasses. Yes it's gonna be a tough year but Strong is bringing in studs, it's just a matter of time.

I also like how everybody keeps saying the Big East is the worst conference in football, Well their win/loss record this year against out of conference Foe's says different. Cincy won last night. The BE is more than holding their own this year.

In two years from now I say the Cards will be on the National radar scope again and teams better lace up or they will be dealt an ''L''
