I'm headed down Thurs, Fri, Sat, Sun.......Will not be robo fishing, and really don't care to catch monsters either.
I'd like to keep some decent action, since I'm taking my wife........
From reading the last few Dave reports![]()
, I can probably head to some of my favorite bays, and work back and probably catch plenty of fish.....
Anyone getting any topwater action early/late yet??
My wife loves that......I just need to keep her off the shakey head, cause the last time it was a shakey head bite, he HAMMERED me.......and I hate being out fished![]()
.
Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Geo

I read alot on here, good luck & tight lines
I haven't been down since labor day so I am not up on the latest. Caught some nice brown fish that week end on Barkley on a couple of short fishing trips but didn't tune into many LM. Since then the water came up and cooled down. This time of the year I do pretty good fishing surface on main lake flats around the mouths of the bays and/or main lake points early. As always try to tune into where the shad are at to find the numbers...

Bite on KY better than Barkley IMO, shad are schooling up on Barkley but the busts just weren't happening Sunday for me...... it was one of the toughest days I've had all year i assure you. there were 2 tournaments going out of Kuttawa and there were a whole lot of single fish being brought to the scales... one tournament took 3.99 lbs for second!!!!!!
My new report is up on the Ky Lake Report board.
I had a real nice morning this morning on North Barkley throwing a swimbait. No monsters, but had 20 fish or so by the time I left to go back and get my wife.
I'm still in the room but getting ready to head to the Cabin for baits, and then headed back out......TORN between North Barkley and headed to some magic spots on KY......
Probably KY since we're going to the Brass Lantern for dinner.
I'm so glad to be back........

Magic Spots on KY Lake. WE stuck some fish. Again no monsters, but did manage to put 30 or so total for the day. NOT bad.I had a real nice morning this morning on North Barkley throwing a swimbait. No monsters, but had 20 fish or so by the time I left to go back and get my wife.

There are some spots where the shad are STACKED up. In one particular bay within a bigger bay, we watched bass pound on shad for an hour or so. Sometimes we'd catch a couple really quick and then they'd be gone for 10 - 20 minutes.......then they'd be back for some more pounding.
I caught fish on swimbaits, red eye shad, and the good ole sammy.
My wife struggled, getting hooked up a couple times but not landing any fish. In reality, she only fished for probably 1 hr collectively the whole day. She'd pick up her book and read until I caught 3-4 in a row, and then by that time they were already back down![]()
. No matter, she still had fun......
Not sure what I'm doing tomorrow.........Barkley, or KY..........or Donaldson Creek........****, I'm torn.

I fished Barkley Saturday morning and afternoon. I found schooling bass in the mouths of bays and in the backs of the bays. The bigger fish were at the mouth. Didn't see as much surface activity from the bass, but the shad were everywhere flipping on top letting me know they were there.
I should have hit up KY Lake, but was in the little duck boat and the wind looked a little strong on KY.
