In your life time, how many times have you been married?
I'm a virgin....first time I've been able to say that for several years
Once for me. Married 17 years and that ended 11 years ago. Still friends and life is much beter for both of us.
Twice, the first time 23 months. The second time almost 6 years and goin'strong. Have one kido and one on the way.
One and a half. This is my LAST one; it's just too hard to housebreak a new husband. lol
Once. I've made it 11 years. So far, so good.
I think I'll keep her around.
But she's almost 7 months pregnant, which means I feel similar to the way Fishin is Life feels above...like a virgin.
Got married 15 November 1980. This year we click past 31 years.
Funny thing is, she hasn't changed much to me. When I look her in the eyes, I see the same girl I said "hi" to shyly and shook hands with for the first time.
We disagree alot, see things differently, enjoy many of the same things, and let each other enjoy the things we enjoy singularly. I guess that's why it has worked for us. We just never did let the small stuff get so important as to be anything more than a passing squabble.
We started with a commitment to each other and agreed that all other things simply had to be negotiated and decided, no score keeping, just what we agreed was best. We share the wins and the loses. They all count to us as something we either learned from, or learned not to do.
I think we'll go fishing....and talk about the clothes she wants to buy, or how her and my jobs are going, and explore some dreams, or just laugh a bunch about things we lived thru.
This week, I really don't give a squat if a fish bites or not. If a reel starts to sing, it's just going to be fun seeing who goes for the fishing rod first, and who goes for the camera to record the other's enjoyment.
We loose more fish that way....but we laugh a lot together.
1 time.....22 years this December.
Susan is the love of my life and my high school sweetheart.
The key is she accepts me for who I am and I her.....Neither of us are interested in changing the other.
It has been a great partnership for 22 married years and 5-6 years prior to that.
Looking forward to the next 25 years and beyond..........Now that our kids are both in college, we will be doing LOTS of stuff we promised ourselves we'd do......and I cannot wait.
Later,
Geo
