The comments by the young lady grate me. Seeems to me you have to work to earn it, then you get to use it if you have to. In case of emergency, break glass. Is she talking about state benefits, federal benfits programs, or a combination of the 2?

Just info. I'm a disabled vet, draw a disability check from the Army for knees, ankles and shoulders that got bummed up doing the Army thing. I've drawn unemployment when fed civil service jobs went away here in KY.

I guess it depends on the source of the disability. In my case, I have a legitimate disability that is compensable, am still able to work, and can still be eligible to draw unemployment if the job I worked while disabled goes away for no fault of my own.

Maybe its a matter of compensation for injuries due to service, versus a seperate and distinct eligibility due to lost income.

Without watching the video, I'll make a comment. No! if you draw SSI or a disability benefit, the you should be only eligible for one subsidy. Some of the "illnesses" that qualify for social security should also be looked at, drug addiction, alcoholism, those are reasons to draw tax payer benefits. they are in my opinion not valid!I drew 2 weeks of unemployment in my life, of course at that time, it was sort of hard not to find work. But I remember that any income you made was in part subtracted from that benefit, its the same to some extent with social security.

    I'm sure it is real.

"Who would want to work in America?" she says with a smile. Makes you want to puke, huh?

Food stamps for fast food? WTF?!!

I can't post what I'd like to, either.

Makes me sick to watch that because even if wasn't 100% accurate it's close.

Closer to home....a woman I know has three kids and was unemployed and looking for a job with no success. She applied for food stamps and started receiving them. As she found part time work she had to turn down some work to keep her assistance. It was easier for her to go on full state assistance than try and make it on her own. She held out and found work but it was amazing to see how the system is set up. Once your in and learn the system you can work it to your benefit.
This is why I lean toward less assistance from any gubment...state or federal. Take extending unemoyment bennies again. It's a mistake and it enables people to cheat or ride the tax payers dollar or Chinese dollars!
I know some people need it and use it properly but seeing the abuse makes me sick.

Brother Bob...first off thanks for your time serving our country, thus enabling me the right to sit in front of a computer screen and waste my time if I so choose to waste my time...thanks! If all that stuff got messed up in the military like you say then by all means draw the disability, you earned it for sure!

This ain't no offense to you at all, I just don't understand how someone can draw disability AND unemployment simultaneously. Other than pointing a finger at government and agreeing that it's ok just because they say it's ok, I simply don't understand it. It sounds like double dipping to me. And if you are or have in the past recieved disability and unemployment at the same time, more power to you, I don't blame you for taking it either, aint nothing illegal about it. It just kind of doesn't sit to well with me, knowing how broke the U.S. is right now and how much debt we have when I see or hear about things such as this. What it basically comes down to is the government idiots that work in the disability department aren't talking and coordinating with the governemt idiots working in the unemployment compensation department.

As it stands right now, this fella I know no longer works, he's on disability due to something that had to do with vietnam PLUS he draws unemployment...heck with all this in place he got a nice bump in pay when he got laid off....he brings more more than I do!

Not knowing the details, I'll refine from commenting, other than to say "thanks to all who have served".

Regarding individuals drawing disability payments, WHILE BEING GAINFULLY EMPLOYED" and non-service related , thinking I have know a few. First one that comes to mind, is and always has been a full time farmer. Not quite sure how he gets it by the gov.., but suspect the farm income is not in his name. THIS IS NOT WHAT I WANT TO PAY TAXES FOR!!! Great income for a "housewife"?

No dought in my mind it is real. I see people all the time who know the system better than the people who are in charge of it. I think I am going to puke.

No doubt this is very real--however people like this who are dishonest-lazy-and cheat and steal from the system will pay the ultimate price when they stand before the good lord on their day of judgement!

although it sure would be nice to see them punished for their dishonesty now

And yes, my disability check offsets part of my army retirement check, but not my fed civ service retirement check, nor my current term fed civ service check. When ya serve 3 ways, ya get paid 3 ways. And the census bureau paid me on top of that. That's why I drink good bourbon, as well as to kill the pain in my knees and shoulders. Next.
