Since germs can be the root of disease, and spit has germs in it, I think we ought consider spitting on someone "an attempt to do grievous bodily harm. As such, our soldiers when spat upon ought be allowed to react as though their life has just been threatened. Let the first spitting mobster get hauled off in an ambulance, and I think the word will spread it's not a really good idea to do that to warfighters.
