    Newt Wins SC

there"s no need to hurry the selection, of a pub to run against President Obama. they need to keep the selection race really tight. keep cutting at each other. and spending that pub money. it is good for the economy. Obama needs all the help he can get. if the super packs will spend big on Newt, and Romney will get good and mad and dig deep in his pockets, that will be almost like a stimulus package. just thinking...

    Re: Newt Wins SC

The longer it goes before we have a nomination, the worse off the GOP will be....because they will have beat each other to death. It looks like everyone will trudge on to Florida, where Romney will get Jeb Bush's endorsement...and we'll see what happens with the Conservative vote in the Sunshine State.

I still see Mitt Romney as the eventual nominee. Watch for the establishment within the GOP to rally around him...because I'm not sure they want Newt...they're afraid he can't get elected. I'd vote for him, but he will have issues with women voters. My wife has said numerous times that she wouldn't vote for him because of his infidelity and morality issues with his ex-wives, etc.

And if I had to vote today in a Republican Primary, I'm not sure who I would vote for. Ron Paul is unelectable and a nutbag on several cases, so he's out in my mind. Romney has potential, but there is just something about him that makes me a little uncomfortable...a little questionable...maybe the Super PAC ads are weighing on me after all. I'm a Newt lean, but a part of me is drawn to Santorum. He seems to have no baggage unearthed yet...kind of an every man's man...not super wealthy...doesn't seem to be a flip-flopper...he reminds me of the nice guy that looses his wife to an a-hole in a hot car that flips him off as they drive away. I keep waiting for him to explode. LOL

    It's like a cartoon.

There's the guy that reminds me of the crazy gold prospector from the old abandoned mine in every western movie ever made. (Ron Paul)

There's Mr. Capitalism himself. (Mitt Romney)

There's the lifetime politician Washington insider with ex-wives, infidelity, and who knows what else. (Newt Gingrich)

And then there's Rick Santorum...just hanging there...

If Newt wins FL, and that is a BIG if, then Romney should get out.

I think Santorum should get out then too.....

Personally I think Santorum should throw his support to NEWT now.......think of it.

In my earlier post, I talked about how we need to just WIN....PERIOD. If a Newt/Santorum ticket could win, AND Newt/Santorum don't screw the pooch in their 8 years, then Santorum, the REAL CONSERVATIVE could actually run for his 8 years. In 16 years, I suspect real CONSERVATIVE politics could make a huge dent and we'd have 16 yrs of strong growth, low unemployment, lower taxes, and maybe a full repeal of every **** SOCIALIST program that is ruining this great country of ours.

    THAT would be my playbook.

The problem with trying to run Newt is independants like me. Both parties need a good chunk of the independant vote to win. Many of us could certainly vote repub if a viable candidate was put forward. However, there is not a snowball's chance in hell that I would vote for Newt. Many independents feel this way. A vote for Newt is a vote for 4 more years.

I'm still waiting for the one true conservative to get some traction. All he needs to do is hang in there while the top two point out how neither one of them are conservatives. I'm getting tired of holding my nose when I go vote. Of course the smell coming from the Republican nominee will be far better than the stench coming out of the white house. The thought being kicked around by our elite Repubs is that only a couple of the current nominees can beat BO. I'm guessing that anyone of them could beat him as long as they keep pointing out BO's record. Of course BO wont even go near his record and is planning on flinging a Billion dollars worth of mud at his opponent.

I agree completely. SC was very disappointing. When the leftist media and the billion dollar Dem destruction crew get hold of Gingrich, he will lose. I've never liked the guy, he's brilliant, but flaky and prone to bonehead statements. One rebel yell sunk Howard Dean overnight, and one stupid comment can do the same to Gingrich in a general election.

IMO, Romney is the only candidate with a good chance against Mr. Obama. The conservative base may not like him that much (Romneycare, Bain Capital, etc...), but they'll vote for him. What does the Dem machine have to attack him on? Character issues? No. Romneycare? No. Being a rich capitalist is all they can hammer him with, and the President already has those votes anyway.

IMO a primary vote for Gingrich is a vote for 4 more years of the current administration. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's what I believe.

    Re: Newt Wins SC

Basically Geo, Newt is very divisive and polarizing. He has shown again and again that he puts party before country. As a classic example, while speaker of the house, Clinton ordered a missile strike on a terrorist camp. Newt was aware of the strike before hand and went along with it. Right afterwards he dismissed it as slapping mosquitoes or something to that affect. During this time he was also going after Clinton for the Monica scandal and lying to congress. The actions of Newt indicated to Clinton/Gore that they did not have the support of congress to continue to go after the terrorists, so they abdicated this to Bush/Cheney. This whole time Newt (the family value candidate) was banging one of his staffers while criticizing Clinton for doing the same (and Newt gets all pissy on Williams for mentioning this stuff during the debate). His dismissal of the missile strike meant that Al Qaeda had more time to plan the 911 attacks instead of getting their butts kicked. We all know what happened next. Newt, along with Clinton and Bush (more Clinton and Newt than Bush) bare a large part of the responsibility of the 911 attacks. If Newt had real issues with that first missile strike, he should have spoken up in advance. Instead, he decided to try and use this against Clinton as a means of derailing the dems. Add to this Newt's ethic violations in congress and his big mouth firing off when it should stay closed and you have a recipe for disaster. Newt is a certainly a bright guy and could bring some interesting ideas to the table. However, it?s the rest of the stuff that scares people away from him. America does not need a polarizing president; we need someone who can work between the two parties to get things done.

2004 was the dems race to lose, and they screwed the pooch with Kerry. 2012 is the repubs race to lose. Guess we'll see how they handle it soon.
