Oh, comon stripernut! I am trying to decide which of these two lakes myself to fish this weekend.
ps I accept pm's also!
haha....ok here it comes lol
hey stripernut how about a bass report from cumberland / PLEASE....
fished with jeremy morgan today of morgans guide service. first of all let me say ive been around this young man since he was a little kid and they dont come any nicer, polite or just all around stand-up kinda guy.
we fished 4 1/2 hrs and boated 27 fish , 12 keepers , best five were just over 20 lbs. forum member "bassmaster" got the picsof todays top fish. sorry tim, you can send me pics of yours tommorrow
the primary pattern has been to locate the fish with jerkbaits. once the fish are located we have been slowing down to pick em apart with the FNF, let the bank contour dictate the depth of the fly, eg. deeper bluff type banks set the fly around 8 ft deep. the sloping broken rock banks where they transition to flatter clay banks set the fly 4-5 ft. patience is the key here, we arent going down banks and just catching fish all the way on every piece of wood, they are schooled tightly in small areas, find them an its on.
it doesnt matter what jerkbait you use as long as it a lucky craft pointer lol, just kidding i have buddies catchin em on thundersticks, rogues, xcaliburs etc etc.
mid-creek has been holding the bigger fish for us, lots of 13-14 inch fish in the backs of the creek , and the occasional biggun, but mostly our big fish have been mid creek, and it doesnt seem to matter which creek.
i hope this helps, i know it probabaly seems generic but thats just it, you gotta find them. good luck.
Stripernut. Sounds like a really great trip. I didnt make it to Cumberland. I went barren an had a pretty good trip. I hear the laurel is on fire.
Couple friends of mine got into some really nice fish Sunday drifting shiners off main lake and secondary point dropoffs.
