Need a little help. Have not fished patoka very much and need to know where a good place to catch bass at on the lake. I have heard south fork and kingsbridge. Any advice? Going this weekend.
Thanks.
Was crappie fishing yesterday and caught 7-8 bass on crappie jigs. Was fishing beaver dens with jigs under bobbers. The crappies were hitting too. Just remember the lake is still 8+ feet high and there is going to be some muddy water in the stream areas.
Thanks for the tips.
All this rain and the lake is still 8 ft above summer pool. Will Patoka ever get back down to winter pool again?
Just checked and it is 8.7 feet high and has to go up with the rain we got today. The ravines around here looked like raging rivers.
Hope it isn't like last year where my favorite mushroom spots were flooded.
How does this high water affect the fishing up above Kings Bridge? How does it affect the Launch ramp up there?
I know that high water really makes it hard to lauch boats from the fishermen's camp ground as when it gets too high you can't launch there as the sloped part of the ramp is all underwater and the turn around is flooded too.

Can't really say about King's area as I have never fished it when the water is this high.
I live between South Lick and Lick Fork so unless I know the water is in decent shape I just go to one of those.
kings bridge shouldnt even be classified as a ramp
I was referring to Walls Ramp. And King's bridge is nothing more than a gravel parking lot and gravel ramp along the old river part of PL.
I've only been up that way once and that was in my friends boat with him driving. I don't take my boat up above Walls Ramp very far. I fished dumplin creek a few times in the past and that's the only time I've been up that far.
PL and I went up to near King's Bridge but we didn't get all the way up to King's. I could see the bridge from where we were but we were down river from it a ways. All we caught that day were little crappie. Lot's of fishing looking spots with huge stumps along the river bed but not one big crappie that day. Still a lot of big fish are caught up there and right now during march is when I'd like to be up there fishing. Unfortunately I have other obligations right now and can't fish too much anymore. And just when Humminbird comes out with the new software for my 898 C si unit.
I really like the Kings area early but don't want to go there with the water so high. Most springs my biggest crappies come from that area.
