You were both wrong about Louisville checking out early. You slammed them hard and you both were wrong. Did I think they would get this far...NO...And I'm actually fairly shocked by it. I heard Gottturd say quote..''Louisville is the weakest 4 seed in the tournament and will probably be checking out in the first round for the third year in a row'' unquote.

Heard Jimmy ''I have no idea how you got to be an basketball analist'' Dykes say..quote '' Louisville will be sent home by the first team that doesn't turn the ball over'' unquote...

That has already been de-bunked. Why do some guys on TV show how much they hate certain teams and love other ones. We do it sure, but we aren't being paid a big check to call it down the middle. Below is my list of commentators that I think totally **** at what they do.

Some announcers are biased and it shows. Dykes should not be announcing UK/SEC games because he used to be a coach at UK. Bilas and Jay Williams should not do ACC games. If you were associated or played for a team in a conference then you should not be allowed to announce that teams or conference games. As much as I love Kentucky, Jimmy Dykes makes them sound like they are head and shoulders above the 1996 Kentucky team, which I think was the best team at Kentucky in the past 30 years. I can't stand Digger Phelps. Digger shows favoritism towards the Big 10 and Big East. I am still trying to figure out what he ever did in his coaching career that makes him an authority. I think he was the coach at Notre Dame that broke UCLA's long winning streak, but I could be wrong. That was one game. I know he is loud and leans towards Duke / North Carolina more than he should, but for my money and the passion he brings to the announcer table about College Basketball give me Dicky Vitale. The game he announced at Murray State was even a prime example of how much he loves College Basketball.

I actually like Vitale, I always have. He gets on your nerves sometimes but he loves what he's doing and knows basketball. I also think Clark Kellogg and Jim Nantz do a very fine job as well.

I will take Jay Bilas all day long. That guy is the best in the business imo. He is very knowledgeable, is able to make his point without trying to make everyone else look like idiots, he is not afraid to take a shot at the ACC, Duke or coach K, and he is also not afraid to make fun of himself.

Edited to add: I am with you on those two Mark. Imagine my disappointment when I turned on Mike and Mike and Gottlieb was filling in for Greenie!

I agree with you.

Doug Gottlieb is a tool, Dykes (although he used to be an assistant coach at UK) is a dipstick, Phelps I can't stand...Lundquest is senile...
but I'm fairly okay with Jay Bilas. Bilas is pretty smart and I think he has shown the ability to put his ACC bias aside when the facts are the facts.

And all kidding aside about Louisville - I actually wanted to buy them in our annual Calcutta, because I thought they had the potential to win a few games this year. If they keep playing like they are playing, I think they can find a way to eek out a couple more.

I hear ya Tim, I listed Jay last because overall he does a pretty good job. He made the list with me because he was one of the first this year to proclaim the Big East having an awful year, which now seems.......Maybe not...

This tournament needs Gus Johnson and **** Enberg.

Bilas is ok.

Gottlieb is a tool, but he is a natural at that gimmick - probably because he's like that in real life.

I like Digger Phelps, not because he is a good analyst though. I like him cause my wife does for some reason - I think it's the whole tie/highlighter coordination thing. Whatever, she can watch it with me and not be totally bored.

Vitale in the 80's and 90's was great.

And I like Knight because he actually tries to analyze the game from a coaches perspective, even though you could fit his personality in a thimble and still have plenty of room for a thumb.

And I loves me some Bill Raftery.

Agreed!! A great Coach but terrible to listen to and watch. His I'm bored and not gonna show emotion (unless it's anger) is old.
