Courious if any one has fished the Ohio and Rocky Pointe for Bass this early spring? If so, has there been any good numbers or quality of fish. Thanks Dan

Fished there about a week ago. Fish were still a little deeper with some shallow. River was still running chilly at about 55, backwaters were around 72. A lot could have changed by now though, especially with the full moon coming up
Appreciate the info. I have never fished this area of the River. Normal fish Smithland and mouth of Tennessee. Or fish out of local area of Evansville or Mt Vernon. What would one expect as a normal 5 fish bag weight? I will be fish here on the 28th so any info is appreciated.

even though it is around the spawn, if you get 15 lbs you would be doing really good. winning weights would probably be around 10 lbs, depending on the tournament.
Got it. I have never fished this area. The tournament I will be fishing is the IBF Top 8 for Zone 4. I planing to fish it next weekend to get familiar with the area. Appreciate the info.
There is a tourney next saturday, so if you can go up there then it would probably be a good idea. Even though your tourney is later in the month, you could see where some of the guys are fishing so you will at least have some good areas. These guys fish up there all the time, and know the area really well. There is tons of water to fish, but usually the tourney anglers are bunched up fishing behind one another.
Appreciate the heads up on the tourney. I wish I could go up then. I google earth the location and I had no idea how big the creek system was there. I am looking forward to fishing it. We have a club tournament there on the 21st so this will be my first time. I am curious is the carp bad also? It looked shallow on Google Earth and my experience has been the carp are usually thick in the shallow areas.
Native carp can be found up shallow in the backs of coves, but they aren't usually too bad. Exotic species are on the rise, but you don't seem them a whole lot yet. But don't be surprised if one tries to jump in your boat. The creek channels are actually very well defined and deep, so it's not all shallow.
I fished it today and it was tough. did not realize all the stumps and shallow areas. I did find the chanel but only after reading depth finder. GPS does not show in that area. I am suprised how many boats fish this area we were all on top of each other. Over all looks great but the pressure def has the fish finicky. Any ideas on what usually produces fish??
24 boat tournament there saturday 15 limits weighed in. I myself had 15 keepers but nothing over 2 lbs. The bigger fish were scarce, took 12 and a half pounds to win six fish limit
That's good information. I also saw that the Renegade tournament there Sunday did well. I didn't have any little square bill cranks which I thought would do good. I threw a 4" chiggar craw all day and only caught a real nice crappie. I thought for sure I could get a bass. I heard the spotts where real agressive right now but no luck. Do you mind if I ask if you caught yours in the creeks or on the main river?
