Re: Nerlens Noel and a 4th Straight #1 Class for UK

Can you reall blame Shabazz Muhammad for not being able to spell his name?

I hope Cal knows somethin that we don't about somebody coming back, because as it stands, Kentucky has one talented guard on their team, and thats an unexperienced freshman in Archie Goodwin....The rest of his signees are 6'7 or bigger and wont play anything less than the 3...I'm hoping either Teague, Lamb, or MKG come back to play the other guard position, and that still leaves nobody on the bench

I think for the first time since hes been at UK, Cal has recruited for the future this year....The only player I see as a one and done is Noel, and having watched a few of his games he needs some major offensive improvement if he's gonna make the jump....Poythress is the big question mark in this years class, as I think he may be the best player on the team...He's big but seems to have a lot of ball skills...Cauley will be there for awhile and once Nerlens heads to the NBA should be the center of the future for the Cats....Don't be surprised if they pick up another recruit before the signing period is over

You seem to forget about last years PG Transfer 5 star Ryan Harrow. 4 Star Jon Hood and Twany Beckham will be backups.

Shabazz Muhammed is more intelligent than any of you are giving him credit for,he was well spoken on the Signing Day Special on ESPNU last night, not his fault his Dad made deals and forced him into UCLA.

Rumor has it one of last years starters is returning,no word on who.Kentucky is still in the hunt for #7 Anthony Bennett,#26 Amile Jefferson, and 5 star Uconn Transfer Alex Oriahki.

Harrow can ball...we'll get Bennett...and I wouldn't be surprised to see Teague back.

If Teague goes he is making a mistake just like Daniel Orton. Neither of them are/were ready for the NBA- No Boys Allowed League. With the last projection I saw, which had Davis #1, MKG #2 and Jones #10, I would think Lamb would be the one to return. Lamb will need to learn to play Point Guard especially if Teague goes. Plus Lamb will need to play it in the NBA because I am not sure he is tall enough to play the 2 guard at the next level. So if Teague stays Lamb goes and vice versa

Teague is no where even close to being ready for the NBA. He is a good ball player but not a great one YET. He played with a team that would have made almost any guard look good.

Dang Woody, sounds like you where listening to mine and Billys conversation last night at his place. I said almost verbatim that Lamb would have to increase his point guard skills if he wants to be in the NBA for more than a cup of coffee. "Shooting guards are a dime a dozen" was what I told ol' Shadrap and that 6'5" wasn't very tall for a #2 guard in the League nowadays.

Teague leaving would be a mistake, and hopefully big bro Jeff will advise him against going now since he is in the NBA. Maybe playing against Westbrook this past summer during the lock-out opened Teague's eyes as to what is required of a top caliber point guard also. Can only hope.....

    Glenn

PS- Woody hope you are feeling better. Billy told me about the KY lake deal. Sorry about your misfortune. Maybe watching the Final 4 will help you feel a lil better.

Sedriously Glenn, did you just bring up Hood and Beckham? If ZCal puts either of them on the floor next season it will be because A.) they are up by 30 or B.) the situation is worse than we all expect.

From what I have seen of Shabazz, he would fit in with Cal's first UK team but not on this one.

Tim- No, I did not. Is kyfanatic named Glenn also? A little confused. I will agree if the Cats are counting on Hood and Beckham for quality crunchtime minutes, then a top 5 ranking is ludicrous.

I don't expect Hood or Beckham to do more than give relief minutes, they are capable of that. I'm hearing Anthony Bennett is leaning more to UK than to Florida now and that Torian Graham a guard is a possibility.

This should be UL's year to beat UK playing at the Yum and UK having little experience returning. UK will be talented, but it's yet to be seen if they have the chemistry of last years team.UL returns everyone except for two of their best 3 point shooters in Kyle Kuric and Chris Smith, plus Pitino is pushing out Swopshire and Justice.UL is bringing in a guard Terry Rozier who I'm assuming is the son of Cliff Rozier? and transfer Luke Hancock,it will be interesting to see if UL can improve their offense which was the biggest problem they had last season.

Offense should be better IMO based on two factors. #1) Everybody is healthy and the Cards get a full season of everyone on the roster. #2) Blackshear would have been the leading scorer, best player and also a 1 and done had he not missed all but the last six weeks of the season. I have been saying it on this board and elsewhere, but I honestly don't think some people realize how good he is. He was the Chicago player of the year as a senior, as voted on by the people who saw him up close on a regular basis. Coaches that played against him, and media that covered him, gave him this award over Anthony Davis. I think Davis is the next Bill Walton and I might be dead before we ever see a big man like him, which gives you an idea of how good Blackshear could be.

As for scoring, I look for Blackshear and Hancock to carry the load which will open things up for Deing and Behannan. Next year is a good chance for Louisville to get it done and after next season I think they will say goodbye to Blackshear, Behannan and Deing, in addition to Siva who will graduate.
