My boats livewell (first pic) has square corners that shad don't like. I wanted some way to round the corners. The second pic is looking like the answer. Bought at Wally World, for $6.99, you just sqeeze the flexible tub to fit it into the opening of the life well, then fill it with water. In my case, when the tub sits on the livewell floor, it fits right under the livewell spray head so it fills up real easy. When you are done fishing, to empy it, just push down a flexible side of the tub, to drain most of the water out, then pull up the basket from one side to remove the balance of the water. And, since its made of a soft flexible rubber, you can cut it down in height to fit your livewell depth if needed. The second pic gives the dimmensions. Though it shows to be about 17-18 inches long, mine fits into a 24 inch long portion of the live well. Good thing is you can buy one to try it, if it doesn't fit, Wally World's return policy takes it back with a full refund. Or, give it to the wife for shopping trips or to tote laundry

Yep. Spray head fills it. Shad have fresh water and round corners, instead of corners to get their noses in. Water fills via spray head, then overflows to the balance of the live well where it drains out. And, allowing the second half of the live well to fill means the shad are segregated from fish I catch and put in the other half.

If this does not pan out for some reason just go to a plastic supply house and get a stiff sheet if flexible plastic. They sell it in 4x8 sheets. You can cut it with a saw to the exact height you need. Put the long strip in the live well and make the oval as big as you can. Mark it so the ends overlap about. 4" cut it, and put 4 small stainless bolts through to make the oval. This maximizes the area for the bait and still utilizes the water in the corners for o2/water. It can be removed because it is flexible enough to wiggle out of there. I've had mine in there since 95. Works great when lake water is below 70 degrees. Pump in fresh water ovfen with live well pump and the And all the dirty stuff goes out the overflow. The water is crystal but scales accumulate.
It will keep 30 maybe more alewife and thread fin in god shape for a morning of fishing (4-5 hours). Gizzards maybe can keep 6-8, that's a horse of a different color. Mine well is probably 10-12 gallons...guess.
When the water gets hot you don't have the luxury of continually pumping In Fresh water because the water has to be cooled with ice. You only get about 2 hours of good bait. Then about july 4th have to go to shimmers...just too much hassle to keep cool because the live well is not insulated. Guess I could put some small bass or crappie in the corners.
I like your idea of being able to segregate caught fish and bait fish. Can't do that with this setup.
Sure works great when the water is cool, self cleaning when you are done too.
That looks like a pretty big live well you have. Could keep a of bait in there.

Thanks great idea. I just didn't know where to chase down the plastic. I was also think a good heavy vinyl sheet, cut just like you mentioned to circle the inside of the tank. Just instead of bolts to hold it together, I was thinking using snaps like is on a boat tarp. They way the ends could be unsnapped, and the ends pulled in together to make the whole deal alittle easier to remove from the tank.
Main reason I'm trying the Wlaay World flexitub? $6.99. Second reason, I want to go fishing and take a break from brainstorming it. It was making my head hurt :-)
