I had a trip with my wife and two kids ( daughter and son 11 and 13) lined up for Ky Lake for some redear, bluegill fishing this month. My son recently just broke his arm. I fear the boat ride on the big water will be to tough for him to handle. We usually go to Ken Lake State Park. I was hoping for some inquiries on smaller water with good bluegill fishing that has a resort or hotel. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thx and FISH ON

Cedar creek lake is a good lake for bluegill and red ears. Small lake with moderate boat traffic but you can start fishing right where you put in. Good numbers of white crappie and largemouth too. Tube a crickets is all day fun for my 9 year old. Not sure on the lodging though, might have to stay in Danville for that. Good luck.
Lake Malone is a good family lake. A very good bluegill and channel cat lake as well. Very pretty. In the no-ski areas you are supposed to pass boats that are fishing at idle speed only. Lots of docks and big cliffs.
Not sure about accomodations. There is a state park lodge I think and a private resort called Shady Cliff.
Near Dunmor, KY.
Really? Moderate boat trafffic, maybe on Wednesday morning at 6am. I would'nt recommend going to Cedar unless you feel like getting pissed off at the world. The place is ***** house. I definitely would not go to Cedar if you are looking to have a relaxing time.Cedar creek lake is a good lake for bluegill and red ears. I have to agree about cedar creek. People don't seem to have any problem pulling in front of you and cutting you off. I just always say real loud, "look here at this piece of ****, what the ****." Sometimes it works!

Guess i'm not out there to catch the big ones like you boys are. Easy for me to just go on fishin. Don't know who pizzed in your cheerios but anytime on the water is a good time if i get to fish. There are a lot of boats but they aren't splashing waves up on and rocking you around like crazy like bigger lakes. I can always find a little spot, tie up, and catch gills and crappie.
+1 on this for sure.
Check out Rough River. You wont get any rough water there and you and your family can stay at the state park lodge, its very nice.

One of my bro's went to nolin yesterday, put in at brier creek, the state park, he was the only one in the parking lot. Took his son, caught over 40 big 'gills, and some rock bass, he was using meal worms. No lodging, but it's only 15 - 20 mile from leitchfield.... Tr
Do you know roughly where he went to get the bluegills? I want to take my eight year old son there and blue gill fishing would be perfect for him. I am trying to get him to catch the fishing bug, no pun intended..

Another idea would be to go to KY Lake and stay in one of hte bigger creeks like Jonathan...You can completely miss the big water and have plenty of water to fish...We were down there three weeks ago and there guys wearing out the big shellcracker and never leaving Jonathan...Even if the wind gets up the water still isn't bad
