Rick Santorum is now encouraging Mitt Romney to use Barack Obama's recent statement of support for same-sex marriage as a political weapon. Santorum says that Obama's point of view shows how he is "very much out of touch with America's values." Of course I disagree, but then again, I'm of the opinion that there's no reason not to allow the monogamous marriage of gay couples. So I thought I'd ask: How potent of a political weapon do you think Obama's recent statement of support for same-sex marriage could be for Mitt Romney? Remember, I'm not asking how you personally feel about same-sex marriage, but rather do you think that people in general feel strongly enough about it that it's going to sway their vote?

I really do hope it will sway people's vote. To me, legalizing same sex marriage will be the straw that breaks the camels back.
I think it will sway a lot of people, I just hope it is enough. Also I think it's a sign that Obama and his campaign maybe a little more concerned than first thought about the upcoming election.

For sure it will sway votes but I think in the end it will be neutral. My wish is it sways votes against him since I don't think alot about the guy.

I wish that they would focus on more important stuff like, OIL/GAS prices, job loss, falling dollar, the wars, the issues that are affecting more than if two gays wanna marry. Its a shame that this is even an issue when this country is in bad shape, last I checked the gays didnt cause gas/oil to rize or cause the wars and the other stuff going on. This is stupid and absured that this is a " major" issue. Fix the economy then worry bout the gays marrying. And why be concerned anyway, if they wanna mary let em, then they can pay for divorce, child support, and all that goes along with it. Come on people, wkae up there is more stuuf to worry about than if two same sex people want to marry, Really? This country has gone to $%#%.

Granted......I AGREE that there are 10 shitloads of stuff to work on and not be worried about gay marriage, but I think the "value" shift in this country has as much to do with some of our problems as our fearless leaders in congress.........

If gay marriage is permitted in the U.S. the government will go into deeper debt than it is already. Just think of the opportunities for fraud. I can go into the old folks home and marry a guy that's ready to pass just so i can collect on his social security benefits. Not to mention the tax breaks me and my buddy could get if we had a contract marriage. Soldiers can marry each other and collect separate rations and BAH and live in quarters instead of the barracks. Any veterans out there that would like to keep those retirement benefits going for a non intrusive male spouse? We could milk that SBP for everything they got. The government would go under. I chose not to vote for obama because he's stupid. It's the same reason I didn't vote for Hillary.

It amazes me at some of the tunnel visioned beliefs that some have. To Each Is Own. We all have rights. The right to have children, adopt children, marry a woman or a man, gay, straight, bi, and all other rights. Did I ever think I would adopt a child from a foreign country, No, but I did. Did I ever think my oldest daughter would have a baby then decide she was gay, No, but she did. Do I think any less of my son versus my 2 biological daughters, No. It is 2012 and there are bigger fish to fry than same sex marriage. Are you going to love your son or daughter any less if they tell you they are Gay, NO YOU ARE NOT!! Get over it and move on to the topics that matter
