    Floyds Fork Report 6/10/12

I fished Floyd's Fork yesterday for about 6 hours will a friend of mine. The water was very clear and about 76 degrees, but it was very low and unfortunately made some of my favorite spots unfishable. We managed to catch about 30 fish - smallmouth, shellcracker, longear, and lots rock bass. Did not catch any smallmouth of great size, but a few around 12 inches. We did manage to catch about 5 or 6 rock bass that were pushing 10 inches, its surprising how many large rock bass this creek holds. I've included a picture of one we caught that had particularly awesome colors.

Fished the creek for the 1st time yesterday, canoed all day and caught several Rock Bass and a couple of Smallmouth. Overall I thought it was an excellant day and im very disappointed, fished all my life, now 45 and just beginning to enjoy this wonderful natural resource.

I see no fish consumption advisories, do you eat any? I do release all smallmouth, but the Rock Bass would be tasty. Just curious if anyone has heard any negatives.

I don't keep anything I catch there, with MSD up the creek you never know.

So I noticed you were using the Paca chunk as your bait. I love using those as jig trailers but every time I catch a fish a pincher falls off. Just curious if you have that problem?

Absolutely, but I seem to still catch fish even if it only has one claw left. I generally go through about 2 packs when I fish them all day, good thing they are cheap.

Alright thanks for the reply. I guess it's good to know that I'm not the only one that happens too.

Have you fished it at the new park they opened up behind Hatmakers gas station?

Their are advisory signs around that area. I can't remember what they say exactly but basically yes sewage from MSD does get in that creek.

    I haven't - I fish farther south than that.
