We got checked by the DNR

Father's Day and my two sons are on the boat with me on the Ohio river. We see Indiana DNR checking some bank fishermen (younger men and boys) on the Kentucky bank. I knew they'd be over to check us out so I got my boat registration and all our fishing licenses out of the glove box.

They were professional and polite and the entire check process took less than 5 minutes as we were prepared. I had all the PFD's in plain sight and displayed my throw cushion. They never asked to see if my fire extinguisher was in the green but since everything else was in order I guess they figured I was good to go, and I was.

Most of those guys are really good fellas. They just want it done by the law and I for one have no beef with that...

I had no beef with them either. They were just out doing their job and I had no problem with them.

I went to the stink hole and tried to catch bait. My casts were OK but I brought up no bait. While at the stink hole we saw a loose jug, unattended and rescued a 12 pound channel from it,released the cat and tossed the unmarked jug in my boat. We then anchored behind the hydros and were getting "fiddler" bites all afternoon.

I had some real soft, stinky chicken liver and when my older son took a break I cast out and caught a 3 pound channel in 2 minutes. Just had to show the boys how it was done.

We left before the stripers might start as both boys needed to get home.

It was just a treat for me to have my two sons on the boat.

That's what it's all about, I spent most of my day playing with my 8 month old...my they grow fast. The stink hole was giving up some mooneye a few weeks back and you had to hit the first batch a bubble for the gizzards otherwise nuttin. If you need some bait PM me, I got a honey hole I found with some huge gizzards and they ain't goin no where. Chuck

Excuse my ignorance; Why was the Indiana DNR checking the Kentucky bank?

    I assume they have jurisdiction.
