They seem to love them rocks then I guess. I probably worked the deeper area a little too fast with my crankbait and should have slowed down with a drop shot or jig. I'm shocked I haven't caught more of them in the past out in deep water (25-30 ft) when I am catching spots.

Well I like dragging an artificial texas rigged crawdad. You can pretty much pick whichever ones you prefer, be it Paca Craw, Berkley, etc. That is my go to lure when fishing gets tough. But a spinnerbait and crankbait to cover water to find productive areas are a good pick too. When I am up around the Derby area, I tend to use more soft plastics and crankbaits if I am fishing ON the river. I recently started using flutter spoons on the river with success as well. I've been catching spots, smallies, stripers, and even sauger on them on the Newburgh pool. As far as colors, natural colors work well, but so do brightly colored cranks and spinners. But remember, I am the king of catching the small ones, not the keepers. So you might not want to listen to me haha.

thats what im thinking! i had been using a small crankbait, jig with craw trailer, or a t-rigged lizard. caught fish on all of them but nothing big enough. thanks for all the advice anyway!
