Depends on where you are. The creek needs a drink bad, it's low and the flow is very bad in spots. Tim, I've told you there are no fish in Elkhorn, the meathogs and Otters have ate all the fish. And quit doing articles about it to.
LOL I promise no more Elkhorn articles in 2012!
I was there Saturday, creek was low. Made canoeing a pain for alotta people lol. The fishing was GOOOODD though.
Canoe Ky is doing tournaments on Elkhorn.Seen a picture from their 1st event of a all most 17inch Sm
I am going to be wading, so my intention is to hit the two new VPA areas that are open. I will post a report when I get back.
Is elkhorn big enough to get a bass boat (17ft) on anywhere? I've always heard how good it is and want to fish it, but never knew if it was deep enough for my boat? Thanks!
Haven't done it for years, but used to fish from the KY River up into Elkhorn through Strohmeier's a ways in a 20' Ranger.
Thanks! DJD - is that the one right there across from Arby's?
The ramp by Arby's is Oser Landing. The ramp is pretty shallow there and broken up but I put by 18.5' tracker in there. I saw a 520 Ranger in there once. Great Crossing is on hwy 227 just off of 460. Great crossing has the best ramp but it is also the most crowded. There is also a ramp on hwy 25 across from Cardome park. That is a good ramp but it is steep. I don't have any problem putting my boat in any of them.
Ona a side note, when people talk about Elkhorn, they could either be talking about the areas mentioned above or the area past the forks in the Peaks Mill area. The two areas are quite a bit different from each other.
