Also, I have a few outfitter friends up there, and they can help recommend a trip type. Boat, Canoe, tent, cabin, drive in, fly in, etc, etc.

Lake St. Clair treated us VERY well when we went up there last year. There are a lot of smallmouth to be caught up there. I actually went there based on a fishing report I saw on here.
St. Clair is hard to beat, but man it can get rough. I like northern Wisconsin and want to try Michigan or the thousand islands area next.
Canada is great and will draw you back time and time again. I'm just not sure with gas prices and the need for a passport now if it is worth the extra drive and expense.
I do love a nice Canadian Shield lake though.
The boundary waters is 2 million acres in the United States and 3 million acres in Canada......you can visit the Shield without ever entering Canada.St. Clair is hard to beat, but man it can get rough. I like northern Wisconsin and want to try Michigan or the thousand islands area next.

And I will tell you this........Crooked Lake on the border is one of the BEST border lakes I've ever been on. This includes Saganaga, Knife, Basswood and LLC.........Crooked is the BOMB.
