Embrey on this board is pretty good..........He has rebuilt some motors for folks here, and I can attest to his work. He's done work on my Opti, and work for a few other friends.

Can anyone point me to a good Johnson outboard mechanic? I would prefer to find someone that has a good reputation but not a commercial business. My 95 Johnson 150 outboard started running real rough and dying on me last time I was out on it. The crank'n battery went completely dead. I replaced the rectifier (voltage regulator) on it last year and I think it needs repaced again. From what I read, the stator is probably bad. Any help would be appreciated... Thanks!

Ill take 250.00 installed but the optic sensor sometimes breaks . 30.00 If it doesnt work ill take off no charge .
Give my dad a call Len Wathen 502-314-9209 he charges $40-45 an hour something like that. Lives in Bardstown and works on Outboard motors on the side. He has a Dyno and all of that stuff, and is very good at what he does. Several on this board have went to him and have been very pleased with his work. You can take it where ever you want, but i'd give him 2 thumbs up on getting it running as long as its getting fire and has good compression. Can also e-mail him at [email protected] .............take care

Yeah, my buddy replaced the rectifier and the stator and his motor still wont get the boat up on plain.
Thanks for all the replies. I have some options now for sure. I can replace the power pack, optic sensor and regulator myself if they need replacing. However, I am thinking the stator is going to be challenging if the fly wheel has to come off. Scott called me back and told me that he inspected his stator and found some flaws in it (thanks for calling me before I drove out there!) Anyway, looking to purchase a stator and have someone put it in for me.
