Anybody fished Barren lately? I hear they are pulling a lot of water from the lake. Is it still as tough as it has been? How will this front coming through effect the bite? What areas/baits have been getting bit? I haven't been down in a month and am looking for any insightful info and advice. Thanks.
Fished it last Thursday with wife before the front came through and simply slayed the panfish(bream/bluegill) occasional crappie using nothing but red worms. Sizes were 7 to 8in and 9 to 10in respectively. Wife was using UL reel(6lb test) with 7ft light graphite rod with a small red/white bobber split shot and long shank gold hook. My gear really moot as I was the fish remover, hook baiter, and equipment repairman, LOL. We were fishing wherever we could find mildly steep large chunk rock banks. Most interesting was toward dusk we were able to tangle with four catfish using only red worms on that ole gold hook. Lost first battle because I didn't teach wife how to back reel and slowly pump and reel down. She thought it was extremely rude of that Cat to steal her bob, hook, and sinker and let it know as it was running back to the channel{was snickering the whole time). Caught other three sizes 2 to 3lbs. I guess. I'm sure if we had stout equipment we would have many more catfish fillets. The catfish were very chunky. Beautiful lake and perfect weather.Anybody fished Barren lately? I hear they are pulling a lot of water from the lake. Is it still as tough as it has been?
