I just logged onto their site tonight and downloaded the latest updates......I wonder if they are replacing the services with something else or what.
Later,
Geo
Suggest ALL GET THE LATEST UPDATE BEFORE MARCH 31!
Fugawi Software Updates
Excuse my ignorance but does Fugawi own Navionics or do they maybe just distribute it and no longer will supporting it? The reason I ask is if I go to the Navionics web site there is absolutely nothing I can find that suggests they will be discontinuing online support.
Navionics - We start where the road ends | Navionics
Maybe they are two separate companies and are parting ways? I really don't know much about the company (Navionics) except for buying their software. However I didn't seem to deal with Fugawi when I did and frankly have never heard of Fugawai in relation to Navionics prior to this.
This is a quote from the about section of fugawi site:
Fugawi Software - Company OverviewEstablished in 1995 in Toronto, Canada, Northport Systems, Inc. now supplies desktop, mobile and web-based navigation and mapping software products to over 130 countries under the Fugawi and other leading brands....
This is a quote from the about section of the Navionics web site:
Company | NavionicsOur HistoryEverybody is familiar with GPS as used in cars and airline displays.
Not everybody is aware that Navionics is the one that pioneered it all: simply stated, Navionics changed the way people navigate by bringing to market the world's first electronic chart device in 1984, called the Geonav...
Obviously something is different because of the difference in the dates. I still am not sure I understand the relationship between these two companies but they seem to be two separate companies.
Update now, and fish on....!
My problem with updating is that my computer has places for USB sticks, but not a slot for a Sim card. Not sure how I can ever update the software, but I suppose there is some type of adapter I could buy. Anyone know if the updates would be worth it for the cost of an adapter? My software is less than a year old?

Can't help you, but suggest you contact Navionics, sooner than later.

If your computer is reasonably new....(windows XP, Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Mac), it should be plug and play......
If your card is over 1 year old you will have to pay for updates, as they are only free for a year....

Thanks Geo.
My card is less than a year old, but I don't know if I can easily find the receipt from when I purchased it. In your opinion is it even worth the hassle? How much have they added this past year?
I didn't need the receipt.......just logged on, and it knew when/how old my card was, and allowed me to update it.
Yea, it is DEFINITELY worth the hassle.
