Are they going to send some of that money to the individuals who were victims, or does the government just keep that as well? I guess it is fine, so the government gets it.

Attorney General Conway Announces $7 Million Multistate Settlement with Google over Street View WiFi Data Capture
Press Release Date: Tuesday, March 12, 2013
Attorney General Jack Conway today joined 37 other states and the District of Columbia in announcing a $7 million settlement with Google over privacy concerns involving the capture of consumers' and businesses' private WiFi data by its Street View service. Google's Street View program used specially equipped vehicles to capture images between 2008 and 2010 for use in Google's future geolocation services. However, it was later discovered that these vehicles were also collecting information from unsecured WiFi networks as they rolled by homes and businesses on public streets.
In addition to collecting images, Google Street View cars also collected network identification information from all private and public wireless networks for use in Google's future geolocation services. However, at the same time Google collected and stored data frames and other "payload data" being transmitted over unsecured business and personal wireless networks. While Google represented that its executives were unaware the payload data was being collected, the Assurance of Voluntary Compliance it signed with the states acknowledged that the information may have included URLs of requested Web pages, partial or complete email communications, and any confidential or private information being transmitted to or from the network user while the Street View cars were driving by.

My thoughts: Google, as part of the settlement, says they will destroy all data collected "as soon as legally practicable". And they said they did not and will not share the collected data was not shared with any third party.
Does that sound a little like "Trust me, I sell cars".

Uhhh that would fall under the "I'm gonna take your money because I want to and need to because i lied about the cost and need to try and cover it up " clause in the Healthcare act errr obamacare.I believe it's in volume 6 page 666.
You do realize Google was funded by the CIA, right?
Lots and Lots of stuff on the net.....read, believe what you want.
It never ceases to amaze me how you twist any subject into a discussion about ObamaCare, no matter how unrelated the subject is, or how inane you end up sounding in the process.
I learned from the best!!! Btw relax, anyone who isn't wound so tight can see it wasn't more than a jab at the idiot who I cannot stand. I wasn't looking for a discussion either.... it wasn't more than playing around.
Article came from KY.Gov news letter and their website. I could understand why CIA would fund increased street coverage. Local intel. I don't really think they'd (CIA) be interested in hacking wi-fi nets. That would appear to me to be a Goggle level business venture. Of course Goggle CEO said he had no knowledge. Right....
Sadly business ethics too often aren't what they should be and because of advances in technology this ends up having an affect on more and more people. In some cases as this one we are not even given the choice of not wanting to do business with certain companies to still be affected.
Well if I was Obama, there's a 10% chance I understand that. Cause he has a staff to explain it to him.
