Saw the White House yesterday and I can report its still White. Aint black or nothing. I did see Marine One come and go several times while visiting the Korean and Vietnam Memorial. Saw the Nuclear protest tent in front of the White House that has been manned for over 30 yrs. Went to Mt Vernon and that was amazing!
Whats your point GEO? Ever president and rep has an agenda, always has and always will. Been that way since 1776 and its called a Democracy. What dont you like about our Democracy?

Late 70's. School function in DC. We checked out the WH, congress and several other "attractions".

Been to DC plenty of times, but never visited the White House. If that's what turns you on, great, go see it, but to me there's a lot of more insteresting stuff to see.

For sure I would visit other sites and museums. A buddy of mine went a few years back and they stayed a few days but said you really needed more time to be able to see everything.

You could spend weeks in the Smithsonion and still not see everything.

Very true. But if I were going back today I'd probably want to see the Air & Space Museum first. Last time I was there I was a teenager and the coolest things I remember are the Spirit of St. Louis and the stuff from the moon landings. And of course the Wall is a must, and it's not far from the rest of the memorials, so you can make a day out of taking them in, and probably get to all of them. And if you can be there when the cherry blossoms are in bloom, so much the better. Yeah, it's going to be even more crowded, but it's really beautiful (and it's always crowded, anyway).

I went to the new one! It was great and they had the discovery I think its called and it is huge! It does look like a bunch of kids paper mached it though.
Also I cant believe some people tried to fly that stuff in there? Its awesome though!

Didn't Harry Reid say that all those tourist stink anyway? I'm sure he is happy to keep all those stinkers out of there anyway. I'm pretty sure they are just the "little people" anyway.

Isn't it a sad commentary of the condition of this country when the only place to see a "space vehicle" is in a museum? The only thing that NASA is required to do now by the administration is to reach out to the Muslims around the world and make them feel better about their contribution to science.
