Anybody got a hybrid report for the lower end of Herrington around the dam? April has been the month in the past, but our only trip this month was a bust. Nothing but dead shad all around us. Still too cold a couple a weeks ago for the x-rap bite.
Thanks
Shouldn't the hybrids be running up the Dix river this time of year? I know they can't reproduce but they have the same instinct to head upstream during the spring as the white bass do. Not sure how much action you'll find near the dam.
I fish for striper this time of year, close to the Dam on Cherokee lake, and I catch more Hybrids than striper. I think they are found throughout the lake, they just follow the shad.
Good question. I've wondered that myself. However, we do best in Mid/Late April. Maybe the older (larger) ones stay home and avoid the traffic (?)
Headed to Herrington this afternoon. Anybody catching any Hybrids on the lower end? Surface temp? Schools of shad?
We went yesterday afternoon. Only boat trailor at Chimmney Rock when we launched and left. Saw one other boat the entire time.
Watch for debris as there was quite a bit floating around.
Main lake was 63/64F.
Some shads of schools but nothing chasing them. Didnt see any of the dying shad we saw a few weeks ago.
No hybrids
4 bass
