    Growing tomatoes?

Do you cage your tomatoes or just let them free range? We cage ours as I'm afraid they may run out into the road and get squashed and I don't like squash.

Staking Tomato Plants vs Caging them

While both the 4 legged type cage and wooden tomato stakes work well I use them in combination.

I use old pieces of panty hoses to tied the plants to the stake or cage. The nylon stretches and won't damage the tomato plant like regular string would. This helps keep the plants healthy and undamaged when the wind started moving the plants around during storms. Just cut strips off the hose material and then used those strips of nylon like a string. You can tie two strips together to make them longer. Velcro strips might work just a good and you can reuse them season after season.

Ask your wife or girlfriend to save her old hose when they get holes in them and use them for the garden. LOL

I got this tip from the Master Gardeners Program on WNIN Channel 9 IE Public Broadcasting Channel.

Moveon, dang you sure got me in trouble. I asked both my wife and my girlfriend for their hosiery. Each saw the garden and knew whose was whose.

I let them run free but always wear knee length shorts. I mean, chiggers are a problem.....right?

    Tyme,

Why is it every time you post I get the "5 things that cause Altzhimers" ad?
Are you trying to tell me to lay off the axle grease?
