Neighbors to the north and south of me are planning on having a "yard sale" while I am away on a fishing trip. Why does that scare or concern me? Because Mrs.Tyme has decided that after 34 years of being together that it's time she had a yard sale. The inaugural yard sale of our marriage.
Over the years we have given clothing, furniture, tools, etc to local charities and I have no problem with that arrangement.
We've got junk, excuse me, I meant to say valuable goods and ancient artifacts, in the attic, basement, closets, garage, and every room in the house.
I've observed some of these valuable goods being gathered in our living room. One item was a glass pitcher that has been in my possession for 10,000 years. I came to be the owner of that pitcher after an evening at Pizza Hut in my college days after consuming a near lethal dose of beer that night. I almost suffered a cardiac arrest when espying my sacred trophy up for sale to the lowly public. It's also a perfect pitcher for making Kool-aid.
In a futile attempt at self preservation, I've decided that I am required to lock the boat barn doors upon my departure to prevent any encroachment into my testosterone laden "inner sanctum".
The "boat barn" houses all my rods, reels, boat, boat parts, anchors, lures and tackle that I've strenuously and painstakingly accumulated over my life time and the lifetime of my father.
She then has the utter audacity to ask me for some money to host the sale. What? I need to give her money so she can sale my stuff? I think she's referring to the "cash till" to give change to the buying public. I just told her,"Mark the items at an even dollar amount. If the item is $1.00 and they only have a $5.00, well tough for them. Tell them to pick out 4 more $1.00 items or increase the price of the item they want to the $5.00 they have." I worked retail all my life and have no use for any of you "public people" LOL
I'm worried friends. I'm scared. Alas, what can I do?

Chuck, would you be interested in the talking/singing Billy Bass ,Billy Catfish or Billy Trout that I've received as presents over the years?Family gives us fisher-people such stupid junk for Christmas presents.
What scares me is I'm leaving my higher dollar catfish rod/reels in the barn. I doubt if she'll sale them as she has started to fish the river with me.
I can only hope and pray. LOL
I love your posts you crack me up...
My plan is to lock the boat barn and either take the keys with me or hide them somewhere here at home. Edit, I'll take the keys with me.
whats scary Tyme, is to think you are going on a fishing trip that will last a number of days, and you post on a public forum where all your valuable fishing equipment is kept. now thats a scary thought. but good luck to you and the Heathen having the fishing trip of your dreams.
We have our adult son living with us now and he's 6' and 230 pounds. Also Mrs.Tyme is locked and loaded with our M1911.whats scary Tyme, is to think you are going on a fishing trip that will last a number of days, and you post on a public forum where all your valuable fishing equipment is kept. now thats a scary thought. but good luck to you and the Heathen having the fishing trip of your dreams.
If that isn't enough, Big Dog the beagle will sniff you to death!!![]()
I'm sure glad I wasn't present at this sale event. Mrs.Tyme told me it was a 2 day sale and people were giving her offers on my tillers, mowers, and even my 2004 F-150 parked in it's spot!!
As far as I can tell, all my stuff is still here but I have yet to take an accurate inventory. I almost fainted when I went to the boat barn and saw the door ajar. "I'm coming to see ya,Elizabeth"!! Mrs.Tyme had just opened it for me as I had called her from the road and informed her as to my E.T.A.
She did make some money but asked me not to post the amount.
She called the local charity pick up and disposed of all the non sold items on Monday morning. I haven't been up in the attic over the 2 1/2 car garage to see whats left or gone.
Our pattern for items we don't use is to move them to a spot in the garage. They will languish in the garage to obtain maturity and patina before they are then moved to the attic over the garage where they will rest for eternity. Guess eternity doesn't last as long now as it used to.http://forums.iboats.com/images/smilies/confused.gif
I was gonna have a yard sale last week. Put the big "Yard Sale" sign out 5 days early. Its 2 foot by 4 foot of 2 inch styrofoam with bright orange lettering.
Second day the sign was out, a neighbor walking his dog asked me: "Are you selling the front yard or the back yard?".
Right after that conversation I took the sign down figuring most of my neighbors just didn't understand the concept.
I remade the sign, the lettering now says: "This weekend I'm selling stuff". I'll let ya know how that works out.
Bob, I've always been confused by the ads that state, "Lots for sale". Lots of what??
I've always been confused by garage sale. Every one that i've stopped at it wasn't for sale.
