    Moors Resort Area Restaurants

    Hey all,
I am heading down to KY lake next week to fish a couple days with Dave Stewart and will be staying at the Moors.
Looking for good places to eat in the area and or places to make sure I avoid.

Also, any place open really early for breakfast?

    TIA!

I'm sure some people who live there will have more to offer, but I have 3 places that I hit every time I'm at KY lake:

    1) Patti's - It's in Grand Rivers (just north of the north entrance to the LBL. Very touristy kind of place, but the food is excellent. It's not cheap, but you are getting something good. Definitely recommend the 2" thick pork chop. My buddy likes the steaks.

    2) Catfish Kitchen - just outside Draffenville... Good fried catfish, hushpuppies and fries... I have never tried anything else there.

    3) Willow Pond - 2 locations one in Aurora and the other right by the interstate in Calvert City. I love their hush puppies that are free with your meal... The catfish there is pretty good too. I also sometimes get the fried shrimp.

I don't have any places to avoid. I'm hoping someone mentions a really good local BBQ place. That is the thing we have never really found there.

First of all..........Dave Stewart is the MAN. He will learn ya more in 1 day than 2 years of fishing.

Second.....It is obvious that I don't miss many dinners. Down in Aurora the Willow Pond is great for catfish and suprisingly froglegs. There is also a spendy place called the Brass Lantern, which is pretty dang good. There is also a willow pond in Calvert City, and a decent little italian place called Mamma D's up in Calvert City.

Breakfast......not too sure, I rarely eat it.

    Later,

    Geo

Catfish Kitchen is great.......Willow Pond, you have my review .

Patties is FANTASTIC......a little spendy like the Brass Lantern, but man oh man their 2 inch pork chop is awesome. And if you finish it all and need some more, order a Boat Sinker desert.......yea, it will sink the boat.

Marquita's Place just south of the Moore's before you cross the bridge over Jonathon Creek has some really good cheap, homemade breakfast.

As early as we are going on the water about the only place open for that early a breakfast would be the Waffle House in Calvert City at the I-24/U.S. 62 interchange. That is about a 25 minute drive from the Moor's. Not sure what time the Moor's opens for breakfast in their restaurant....but not normally open when I am there launching this time of year.....we could adjust the starting time for the first day so you could have breakfast there before our teaching trip.

One more vote for Pattis. Just ignore the the doll decor and enjoy the food. The wife and I shared the pork chop for lunch and had dessert.
