Those Google ads are targeted and you will see advertising for items and services you have expressed interest in, which is the case throughout the net. The ads can also be pretty much random.
Yeah, governments have always wanted to control the press. The Internet has become the press.
I just wonder how the mega sites like Google, Facebook and the others that have in the past relied on an abundance of information play into this. The content providers like CNN and ESPN with a bunch of money can pay the cable companies their fees. The individual mom-and-pop bloggers and so forth won't want to pay and thereby competition can be eliminated through cost of entry.
I haven't really read much about this but plan on it. The elimination of neutrality has been in the works for quite a long time. It just took one federal judge to put the whammy to it.
