Little River on Lake Barkley questions

Meeting a friend next week to camp and fish at the State Park on Little River at Barkley. Neither one of us have ever fished it before and any advise would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I go every year, stay at the lodge and never leave the area between the first bend past the lodge or farther than the mouth.

Thanks so much for the reply. I am the person who planned this trip and my friend is driving about seven hours so I am hoping for some success. It is funny how when you are the person who plans something the added pressure you place on yourself.

Little River is a great place to fish. There is a large bay off of little river called blue springs which is right at the state park ramp to the west and south. Lots of fishing in blue springs. If you venture up little river there are a couple of other adjoining creeks which are good fishing too. The only thing with little river is it is the first and worst to muddy up on Barkley. With all of the rain we are getting there is a good chance little river will be muddy into next week. If so the bays across from little river on the LBL side will have clear water and you could trailer to others areas as well. KY lake rarely muddies and trailering to fenton (at the bridge) is only 15 or 20 minutes from the state park on Barkley.

Thanks so much for the help, I really appreciate it. I didn't think about the rains making is too muddy, I guess trailering to find some spots might be what we will have to do.

Thanks again for your time, my friend and I grew up together and were fishing buddies as boys, now it is many years later and he has become seriously ill so I want this to be a fun trip for him.
