Are there redear in the Ohio River?

A guy told me he's caught redear in the Ohio and I've never heard of them being caught before. Maybe there's a few but not sizeable population to pursue? Anyone??

I have caught a few thru the years and the ones I had caught where very nice size. but to set out to target them on the river might be kinda hard to do just don't think theres that many. but if I was going to fish for them I would fish river flats and target grassy areas.

That's interesting because the area he described has grass and it's a good river flat too so I believe him now. He also said they were good keeper size fish too. Thanks for the feedback Fishhound!!

I'll maybe try them soon in that big flat area he told me about.

Wow!! Those look close to 12in long!! Stud crackers, ronzo! Deep water, flats or what? Do you catch very many and what time of year?

Flats out of the current. Those were caught around 4th of July last year out of one of the creeks off the river.

We have caught them at the falls before . When the river is low you can catch them up by the dam. Not a common catch but were happy to see them there.
