    are creek chubs and shiners good cat bait

    Im wondering if they would be good bait in the ky river for blues and channels and if alive yhe possible flat head cat got a trip this weekend amd was jw what would be the best as far as oily stanky bait goes

    Yes! I grew up catching chubs and shiners to go cat fishing. I prefer using them as cut bait. Lots of good days fishing the creek in the afternoon and then running over to the lake to night fish. Good luck

    suckers or creek chubs are my favorite but i like to use them live . Those bright orange sunfish are a flat head favorite. live bait works better for me but hay try both ways . Another realy good bait is those yellow belly catfish just cut the dosal fin off hook whole . They live a long time on a hook.

    they are good bait. U should be able to catch a few shad and skipjack at the dam in Lockport, I caught a few a couple weeks ago. It is showing the Ky coming up a couple feet Friday so it might be a great weekend to hit the river.

    Oh if it comes up a coupl3 feet i will be in paradise ill nab some white bass as well and maybe some sauger as well

    Im one of the crazies who use light line for big fish ill be throwing 10 lb line for a monster and a 65 lb braid leader ive got some nearly 8 ounce shiners and halb pound creek chubs so there about 6 to 8 inches

    In all honesty im willing to say ive caught several state record fish in the sunfish family ive eaten all of them i dont think anyone cares if a minnow is a state record or not lmao but u could be right ive seen some creek chubs that were nearly a lb and i would never turn one in for it being a record cause who wants to be recorded for catching a state record minnow i dont want my name beside it lol

    Hey a state record minnow is still a state record. I've caught some pretty big creek chubs but don't believe one that's weighed a pound.

    I have caught some that were pushing 12 inches man they have been some hogs caught in georgetown i caught a red eye that was nearly 12 inches back in like 2007
