    Anyone own Rodesian Ridgeback Dogs?

I'm wondering if these are good dogs to hunt with or to have around the house? These are the so called LION Dogs.

Technically, old farts cannot cougar hunt .........I also qualify as an old fart in this instance.....

Now, if you were 20 or 25, then defiinitely, and I don't even thing a fist full of 50's would be necessary, just a g string, 6 pack abs, and a smile.......

We used to have a Big O Tire in town and they kept a few in their office. Seemed like pretty friendly dogs. Kinda cool looking to see that ridge on their back and they were very athletic looking. I have heard stories of them being loyal and ferocious but I'm betting they are good couch potato dogs as well!
To me if I was looking for a dog to have around..potentially outside I would get a mixed breed to save the money. Maybe even get one with some longer hair to make the cold temps more bearable.
I'm not implying you would abuse them with the cold.

He built an invisible fence all around his yard and put the collars on his two dogs. They are guard dogs I guess as they are running around the yard all day and at night too.

They let them out when he goes to work in the morning and I see them out at night after he gets back home. They bark at anything that moves and go to the very edge of their yard trying to get close to what ever they see. They are wearing the grass down to nothing but dirt in a path around the house.

I'm hoping that they are friendly. I've seen them jump up along side an 10 ft tall concrete wall and they get about 8 ft off the ground (Their Head gets up about 8 ft high along side the concrete wall) They are very athletic and fast too. They fight with each other all day long.

I too wonder how they are going to handle the cold weather being outside all day long when it's below freezing even during the day.

I think that they get bored being cooped up in this small yard all day long. They also like to dig in the dirt. They have dug up part of his side yard. Maybe they hear moles under the ground or something. But they are always digging in the yard when they are not barking at something and or chasing vehicles that drive by the front of the house.

I thought that they were boxers at first until I got a better look at them. Then I looked up "guard dogs" on Google and figured out what breed they are. I'm not sure what they are guarding though.
