I'm just glad it rained a bunch over the weekend so at least the streams started high and have less chance to freeze over. Might not make it all the way thru Sunday though unless the wind stays blowing.

If your garden hose is hooked up to the house unhook that rascal asap. Drain your spigots if you have freeze shut off valves inside the house if not cover them with Styrofoam muffs you can get at the local hardware or big box stores. If you have a water line that has froze before let it trickle. Check the bubbles on your anti-freeze in your car or truck and of course your battery.
Many areas Thursday morning will be below zero and wind chills @ 5 to 10 below. Friday night into Saturday morning we repeat this process yet again then some moderating temps. I look to see this happen again towards the end of the month.
Global warming, Climate change, whatever you want to call it, insane bitter cold temps are on the move, be ready.

I need to come across that river some day and make you take me wading on some Indianner water....I've never been in any of those streams.
Well to be honest there isn't really anything great over on this side. Go into central Indiana and it gets much, much better. I just dont have the time these days to drive 2 hours one way to them. 10 years ago i ran wild all over the state. All I have to hang my hat on these days are a couple of small streams that used to be gems but meat hunters and excessive siltation have really put the hurt on them. And quite frankly I'm starting to think the fish are getting tired of my offerings. I swear a couple of those fish and myself are on a first name basis I've caught them so many times. I've been wanting to run Floyd's fork for something different and then start targeting some streams towards Cincy as its new to me water. I made it down to the green river, Russell creek and drakes creek last year and even though the trips weren't stellar the new scenery was.

Interesting weather tidbit for you that I researched. Tomorrow may very well be the lowest ''I hope'' we go this winter season temp wise. Guess what date the lowest recorded temp was for 2014.............yep Jan 7th.
Also here in Oldham county per Kymesonet.org we had 5 days below zero recorded last January, yea it can and did get much worse than what is coming up. The average low for the month of January last year here in Oldham Co was 16, that is insane and much like what is experienced in the far northern states.
Weve been colder before and lived. At least in sky it only lasts a couple of days. At one time I had quite a few family members who lived in upper wisc and the upper peninsula, and we would go there some great ice fishing. NO they didn't freeze to death, just aged.

No doubt man I had bottled waters out in the garage not taking up refrigerator space AND staying ice cold. Now I gotsta bring them in to keep them from exploding!
Thats a bonus storage in the garage...I do the same. I have lived here since 96' and it's kinda nice to go grocery shopping in the winter because we don't have to get home before anything spoils. It stays cool/cold in the car so we don't have to plan what stores we hit first. A minor bonus but a bonus none the less..![]()
