If you can't cut it somebody else will... In our little town there must be 4 or 5 businesses mowing yards, here mostly they pay school kids to help them and I don't have a problem with that, school kids aren't having to provide a home and support for a family... I'm sure 1 or 2 businesses can provide those services and be in better shape to pay a better wage if they needed full time employees...
So in this example Mr Hlleonard would be in favor of big business with A CEO running the company probably making millions putting the locally owned small business members of the community on the street?? Seems pretty hypocritical, BUT not surprised

We are stuck with the CEO disease no matter what we do.... consolidating small company into a bigger one makes it more capable of paying a better wage....

on the street?? ... everybody can't be a company, if you don't have enough business to support yourself and your employees then maybe you need to be an employee..

Bigger company doesn't always mean better pay or working conditions or service....

    Dude...

Consolidating smaller companies into bigger ones makes them more capable of paying a better wage? Yeah, ok. Don't equate capability with willingness. I knew a lot of girls in high school that were CAPABLE of taking me behind the bleachers and making my dreams come true...doesn't mean they were WILLING. Big difference. As long as free will is in the equation...and let's hope to God it is...just because a big company gobbles up a smaller one doesn't mean it will pay better wages. Once again, here we go with eliminating competition, which allows most companies to increase prices. Those same folks earning your "higher wages" on the upstroke are paying more for stuff on the downstroke. Those same big companies (owned by investment firms) may also elect to ditch the old employees in favor of new ones they can pay at lower wage...thus a nice 1-2 punch of increased margins for their bottom line.

Eliminate free will, consolidate into nationalized corporations, and let the government control wages...sounds nothing like America to me.

It seems you disagree with some others on the board that to think "trickle down" is the next best thing to sliced bread... companies will pay the lowest wage they can get away with... Having said that, how many mom and pop businesses you know that pay better than food stamp wages... they don't because they can't.... companies will pay what the labor force demands or go belly up if they need employees to stay in business... Like I said before, if you are a company that pays below gov assistance wages, you are part of the problem...

In Mr Hlleonard's world what is gov assistance wages? Second of all don't make your dumb*** generalizations....I am a small business and have been for 19 years. I have 31 employees. Out of those 31, 6 have been with me all 19 years, and 8 more have been for 7 or more and are making MUCH more than minimum wage and also have retirement funded by me.... Guess what? They didn't start that way, they EARNED IT. They are happy and so am I.... AND I can guarantee I Have paid more in taxes in 19 years than you will in your lifetime. How many businesses have you run? How many jobs have you created? And while we are at it how much do you donate each year?? You sir have no clue..... ALL you know is what the union told you to "think" you know..... The fact is your precious unions have driven more jobs out of the country in the past 20 years than they EVER helped create......... And if you believe so much in your liberal party, go ahead and pay more taxes than required, they will let you

I take by your post your employees don't rely on gov assistance to provide for their families (although you didn't exactly say that) I say good for you, you aren't part of the problem, we need more of you and less of those that are...
