Figure I'll pull the dryer out from the wall and see what I can see. A new heater element is a whole lot cheaper than buying a new dryer.
The dryer part came in the mail today and I installed it (heater element). Darn dryer still didn't work although I knew via testing that the old element was no good. I educated myself further via the Internet and tested the Thermal Cut-Off fuse. That was another malfunction. Okay, now I need that part and I don't know of a local appliance parts store and I need that part NOW so back to the Internet I went.
In reading reviews of the various suppliers of said part one person suggested that "sometimes" you can reset that one-time fuse by throwing it on the ground, flat side down. I've got nothing to lose so I followed his advice. I again tested it for continuity with my multi-meter and the fuse is good again.Sometimes you just have use the "force mode". Glory be!!
Dryer is now re-assembled and the operator (Mrs.Tyme) is busy using it.
This old dog learned a new trick today!!
That fuse is a safety item and we discovered that some debris was in the discharge vent going outside. Looked like a bird might have gotten in it and started to build a nest. The debris was removed, tight things that should be loose were adjusted and things that were lose and should be tight also adjusted.
I'm so pleased with myself I might, oh heck no, I WILL have several Woodfords this evening.
