    unions at it again.....

    http://www.slate.com/blogs/moneybox/...t_from_it.html

    http://time.com/money/3898459/los-an...m-wage-unions/

So when its time to talk big and get the unions fired up and the low pay folks fired up its rah rah rah!!!! When it's time to put your money where your mouth is the unions play games....again. Just another reason I cannot stand the union mentality. They are so much like the gubment it ain't funny.
here in Kentucky the minimum prevailing wage was set sky high for construction with state money. Projects go waaaaaay over budget now, school systems are constantly broke and we have a finished project that is no better off in means of quality. Just big union muscle trying to dictate to others on how to spend money and then they find ways to get exempt from the rules they pushed and lobbied for. Dirty rotten no good Obama loving sons of b*******!

Help me out some please. Nothing wrong done by any means. If possible can pro and anti Union stuff be kept to a very small minimum. We have both union members and non members on the site amd some on both sides feel very strongly. Thanks.

This is more about hypocrisy.......Unions pushed for the 15.00 wage, even setting up some of the rallys...then pull this crap at the 11th hour.

I know you have membership on both sides of the fence on the site, but the Off Topic board has been a place to vent. I sure hope it continues to be so......

There are also some union jobs that

Only have health insurance( costing $1200.00 per month) & retirement. By this i mean no payed holidays, no payed vacation, no disability insurance to cover you if you get sick or hurt that isn't job related & depending on the job being rained out a lot with np pay other than two hours showup for driving an hour or more to work. Seems like those jobs wouldn't hurt to have a little higher wages since some of the nonunion workers have all of these benefits that a lot of us union workers that make you so sick don't. Oh all union workers have it made don't they ??? Think about that one for awhile & how you'd like not having nothing, but health insurance, retirement & a good hourly wage. I know I do every time my non union employeed buddys that i work with on a daily basis get their Christmas bonuses & I get to sign up on unemployment that they withold the first week on you & then guess what ??? You never see it because you work outside in well below freezing temps a lot of times & never draw a claim out. Hhmm, man i've got it good. lol The factis unions have caused you to recieve a little better wage(including benefits) than you could be making. That and all union jobs are not all they're cracked up to be so don't judge every union worker as a whole.

No I was surprised to get my post called out and I can read so I understand where he is coming from. The post was about that article and what had transpired over the life of this $15 minimum wage thing. I planned to stay on point with that because I find it repulsive that any large organization (union, federal gubment) can blatantly talk out of both sides of their mouth and get a pass by the liberal media.

For the record I have many friends in unions and have one leaving the private sector soon to work for a union.....I will never disown or unfriend someone for being a union supporter or member ...BUT....I don't have to like who they work for. I can have an opinion that's different than theirs and we are fine.

Dont you all remember all the coverage of how people felt a burger flipper deserves $15 an hour?? I don't agree they deserve that, I don't agree that an organization should mandate what others pay without any regard for the marketplace. Don't people realize that if the coat of doing business goes up so will the product they sell? What gives these unions the right to champion that idea and then act like a crawdad and backup?? That's what I'm asking. Are non liberal minded folks the only ones that see a problem here???

Surprised??? Not sure what the brown nosers butt kisser thing is trying to say? I been around long enough to know a thing or two about workers I don't care if they are union or nonunion and I'm sure they have those people in both sectors just like they have useless fools in both.

No I would never say that all union people have it made. I also know all non union people don't have it made either. My compliant is with the unions structure and practices they impose on others.

Our men pay $700 a month for their family healthcare and we don't pay them as well as some union wages....I can tell you that. We pay for cell phones, trucks and gas and employee healthcare. We have large deduct plans and healthcare savings. No one gets rich in my field except the owner. We all work to keep the doors open and save for the future. Small companies like ours (15-20 employees) need to be light on our feet, we move and react quickly to technology and can never sit back and wonder what to do next. It's always survive by being fair and doing a good job. Basically we don't have the safety net of a large Union Hall that has work somewhere if times are lean for us.

I could get hired on with a union in my field if I wanted because I have talked with people who do what I do. I just don't want someone with the control over me that you described. I have a choice and I choose to work in these smaller companies where I have a direct impact with our business and men...I feel we can look out for eachother better than someone who is not directly connected to our day to day operations.
