Good thoughts. Funny thing is if more people look to go hybrid or all electric, those car prices will climb even above what they are now as demand would add to current shortages of inventory. And if demand gets higher for high mpg/ or electrics, the trade in value for vehicles with bad mpg will decrease if gas stays high. All that means less for my trade, more for a new car, larger consumer debt, larger car payment simply takes the place of a low car payment with high gas prices So I just don’t know that the consumer would save anything.

Increase production of electric cars will bring the prices down.

Yep. New Cars and Trucks are crazy expensive. And there is absolutely no way I'd buy a 5-8 year old EV.....

Nope. We are screwed. Be glad you will be dead and gone, like me when everyone is forced to buy an EV.

If you look at the auto manufactures is sure looks like they are trying to push electric cars now. I mean look at all the commercials on TV.

The price of oil is way down now but the people that make and sell gasoline are keeping the prices high. And they will come back down.

I appreciate the govt watching for price gouging. To me, hybrids make more sense than all electric right now as they are cheaper, save gas, and add no load to the power grid. Check Ford Maverick hybrid 4 door pickup starting below $20,000.

My daughter drives a hybrid.........she likes it, but does NOT like the maintenance costs.

Miss maintenance, and they won't cover sht down the line........

Figure 500-1000 minimum a year for yearly maintenance in the cost of the vehicle and you'd probably be alright.

Hers Hybrid is a Honda Accord Hybrid, and she bought it 3 years old. Has had about 3k in maintenance that had to be done , but she's been on top of that.

Did some body damage on the front quarter and needed some wheel/maintenance. Braking generators, and Maintenance stuff had to be done by a certified Honda Hybrid "dealer", before the body work. And she had to find a "special" body shop to work on it.

All total it was probably 3-4x a normal repair. Maybe gauging, maybe not. I didn't get involved.

She does get crazy good gas mileage.....something like 50 -60 . Not bad, but prob not worth the extra costs, IMHO. Maybe at 10 dollars a gallon it is worth it.

Will keep an eye on that. Our experience is with the wife’s 2015 Cmax, Ford. Since we bought it have only been out of pocket for oil changes and filter every 7500 miles, and replaced a 12 volt starter battery. She averages 40-43 mpg. To be fair we only got 20,000 miles on it. Oem warranty on hybrid components including the brake rechargers is 8 yr/ 100k miles. To be fair our other car is an F150 5.0 V8 at 14 in town and 19 highway with a 36 gallon tank. So big difference in mileage and a fill up.

Heres; where Im coming from, comparing the F150 to the hybrid if we drove both equally. Oil changes for Hybrid is 4.5 qt, while the truck V8 is 7.7 qt.

I agree in that once again it appears there was plan execution before plan analysis. Ukraine and Russia issues recognized, had we been more energy independent I think the war would have had an impact, but not added to a self inflicted consequence.

Now in total sarcasm, I guess the open border was to replace the electric auto industry employees lost to the epidemic. Whoops! If Jen Psaki sees this it might become a platform position. 😂😂😂

The President does not control gas prices anymore than congress can control gas prices all by themselves.

The Oil companies are the one price gouging right now. Oil Prices have sunk and the price of gasoline is still way the hell out of sight. I blame the oil companies. And if you have stock in these companies then it's your fault not Bidens.
