Sauger fishing

I've had a few friends say they are spiritic right now. I venture to say most are male, I normally don't start sauger fishing until the day after Thanksgiving and hopefully we have another year like last year. Good luck and keep us posted.

I sold lead heads and grubs behind the dam in the 1980's and Thanksgiving week was always my best week seemed like that was the time they would start running. Back then it wasn't nothing to catch 30+ a day. When we went out in the boat we went through a pound of minnows many days catching 100+. Then they put those Stripers in the river and after 2 years the Sauger numbers went way down. Them Stripers would eat anything that swam. I heard last year they were catching a lot of nice ones and getting there limits again. Looking forward to getting to go back.

I’m fairly sure I bought some grubs from you lol. Caught this 20 and a quarter yesterday at the mouth of a creek. The bass were on fire.

That's a nice one. I sold them 10 lead heads for a 1$ and 25 3" grubs for a 1$ back then. Them days are long gone lol

Yes sir, I'm sure I gave you some business back then. Started making my own jigs and sinkers in the 90"s and am playing with plastics now. Hopefully have a good sauger run this year, wasn't bad last year. Good luck
